Does anyone NOT have a 8800 GTS/GTX/Ultra?

I use a 7800GTX, it's only been the last few games which I have had to lower the resolution from 1920x1200.

I was hoping to get a G92 if they were as fast as originally expected, but it sounds like 8800 SLI is going to be the only way to run upcoming games :(

Same here, X1800XT 512mb, has served me well. 2950 Pro looks like a tempting upgrade at Christmas, if they are priced right.

Why?

I somehow cant belive that to be honest. :)

Nvidias new range (which will beat the GTX/Ultra) most likely wont be coming out this year.

The people who made Crysis are not stupid so they wont make a game and bring it out and make it stuggle on the best GPU that is currently out. Just wont happen otherwise they will be losing tons of money if they do that.

Not everyone who buys crysis will have a 8800GTX and will need to play 19x12 max settings.
Also, It's a beta and it's not optimised, but 5-20fps unoptimised isn't really a good starting point IMO. Unless people are lying in the Crysis beta thread....;)

Remember when FarCry came out, Which cards were top dog then?
The 9800XT and 5900 Ultra? Could they run FarCry with Good levels of IQ?

Nope.

We had to wait for the 6800GT before that could happen.

Oh and no I don't have an 8800 series card as I have my SLI 7900GT' to tide me over. I am intentionally waiting for the 9800GTX/Ultra (this will be my first Top Dog card as i've always bought the 2nd best from the nVidia range)

I think it comes down to the fact that there's not been much competition and the graphics market has also been quite stale for a long time now.

For me the choice I had on my new build a few weeks back was:

x1950pro - £100
8800GTS - £180

I was almost going to get the x1950, as I reckon it offers great value for money. But in the end, I decided to stretch to a 8800GTS.

I was never going to go any higher on my budget, so really there wasn't much alternative to those two options, as far as I could tell. And the graphics card market had been like that for quite a while before I bought as well.
