Don't think these sticks are defective as such, but very disappointed with the results in my IP35 Pro. Will just about do 833 MHz 5-5-5-15 at 2.3V. Tried SPD settings, less voltage, and they're at their max I think. Won't even do 4-4-4-12 at 800. You get what you pay for it seems. Am going to ask for a refund as these don't do the rated speeds.

Obviously faulty...mine are doing same speed as my overclocked Geil were but @ 2.0v...cannot fault them!.

Mine are perfect - they won't do 1100MHz, but they will do 1066MHz - yours must just be duff. Send them back for two new ones!

Why not? 6400 Ballistix actually cheaper than the OcUK and seems likely they'll get to 1000MHz...

Can't wait days to get an RMA replacement either. I don't have any other DDR2 sticks.

Are you overclocking 1:1 or are you running the memory and FSB on a divider?

Divider but have tried lowering the cpu multiplier, and upping the fsb to check the memory - no joy.

Got my Q6600 running at 3GHz P95 stable (enough for me) and want memory that'll do 500 MHz, i.e. 333fsb, 9x multi and 1:1.5 divider. Going to try the balistix 6400 next and see what they'll do.

The PC8500 ones are the only ones you can guarantee will run those timings at 1066MHz. If they don't then send them back until they do. You shouldn't be out of pocket either if the RAM is defective whereas if you return them under the DSR, you pay the return postage. Also - be aware that if you have opened the packaging in a way that makes it obvious the RAM isn't 'as new' then you cannot return it under the DSR. This seems to include opening sealed anti-static bags.

Being blunt (and therefore quite rude) - you've apparently had a defective set of RAM sticks delivered and you're annoyed, so you're posting un-necessarily negative threads (the minute you use the phrase "rubbish?" because one set were bad, you've gone over the top in my opinion) and then you've knee-jerked yourself into buying slower RAM that may or may not run as fast as the defective ones you currently have.

As for not being able to wait - that's a common mail-order issue. You win by having the lowest prices, you lose by having to wait on the postman.

Just got a set of these with a gigabyte ds3r and they wont post at 1066 atm. Dont know if the voltages are set right yet need to have a play. What volts are you lot putting through them at 1066?

Mine are 2.1v. Tho I've got a pretty good pair as I've had them upto 1170mhz or summit.

I also have a pair currently back with OcUK as they fail to post over 1000mhz at lower than the SPD timings of 5-7-7-25. I should be getting my replacements any day now.

2.0V [+0.2] setting in the BIOS.

You probably make a fair comment there, but I'm still gonna return them for a refund and try the ballistix.

Can you request a refund rather than replacement if you RMA them?

When i read your post i crapped a little as only running mine something like @ 970mhz...so i gave them a quick test they showed me 1100mhz without pushing...so i am quite relieved now.:)

I bought a set of them when they were on This Week Only. They wouldnt do anywhere near what they were supposed to. Got them refunded though no problem.

Just installed the Ballistix, they do 950MHz 4-4-4-12 and I've got them running at 1GHz 5-5-5-15 (high as I've gone), both 2.2V, and am very happy with that.

IMHO these are a bargain at the moment, much more so than the OcUK sticks, almost tempted to buy another set.

Hopefully getting a refund via RMA on the OcUK sticks.

Well I had to RMA 4 pairs of Ballistix in a little over 2 months, whilst my first pair of OcUK PC8500 have been running smoothly for over 3 months now, so the quality of both can be disputed or admired.

My replacements for my 2nd pair of OcUK PC8500 were dispatched this morning, so we'll see what they're like when I pick them up from the PO on Thursday.

LOL...Yes it was all fine and dandy when my geil would do what your ballistix are doing until they started erroring....and now these so called ( RUBBISH ) memory are doing the same speed what my Geil were but @ 2.0v...word of warning don't try folding with them....as they will end up frying themselves....as high voltage can kill.lol.:D

The problem with Ballastix seems to be durability when overclocked, so don't go too high. I'll be using them for the next system too, but just cause it can run at the speed a month or so doesn't mean it's perfect.
