4ROD

Sorry I meant 3 rings not 4

My 360 got the red lights on the 27th of august i telephoned MS and they emailed the packaging labels within an hour.
UPS picked up the console on the 28th and then i got an email from MS on the 29th saying they had received it.
I got another email from MS on the 10th of september saying my 360 was repaired and ready for despatch.
And i got my old console back the next day with a worksheet inside the box saying they had fitted a new mainboard and extra heatsink.
Also in the box was a xbox live card giving me another month on live.
I think thats pretty good service because when i first rang them i was told it could take about 25 days to repair.

Your lucky, my friends took six weeks to be repaired, but he is really unlucky as he has since got an Elite with 3rod! He still stands by his system though and loves it to bits.

Lets hope I can get back as fast, The guy on the phone said it would be collected within 2 or 3 days and would be a 25 working day turnarond.

Mine only took a couple of weeks, start to finish. I got my old console back, with a new motherboard, with the new heatsink.

What i didn't get, were any emails, other than the one containing the link to the shipping label. It just turned up at 5:00PM one day.

Got mine back from repairs just last week. Very impressed with the service all told.

Brand new 360 for me though (by the looks of things at least), I guess mine really was dead. New one has a manufacture date of mid-August 2007, is much quieter than my old one and has an On button that actually clicks nicely when you use it, rather than being all spongy and, well, rubbish like my old early-2006 model.

Fingers crossed it lasts longer than the old one too, but I'm not holding my breath.

Mine has just died and I am yet to ring MS. Do you have to package the console up - other than just the 360 box?

Also did you guys send the console with HDD attached? I've heard they wipe it, and I really wouldn't be happy about that :( Not with Forza 2 and BioShock nearly complete :(

Thinking about getting an Elite while I wait and selling mine when it returns :(

Take the h/drive off and do not use the 360 box or you will not get it back.
Make sure it is well packed in another box.

Not you as well?

Mine just went belly up Friday last week. With MS already though. On the phone they tell you to remove all parts. HDD/Game Discs/Memory Cards/Faceplates and drop it in a box. Package it well (Shredded paper is good for this ;)) and off it goes...

I phoned UPS Monday just after 9am and was told it would be picked up same day!

Quick question, I dont have a printer to proint out the labels, so i just asked them to post them to me, that was yesterday.

But today i had Ups at the door, i wasent in as i didnt expect the so i got one of those "I missed you cards". But i dont have any of the labels yet, Do Ups have them when they collect my console or are they delivered by post?

Yeah... release day console too... thought I was in the clear. Very odd, it basically hasn't moved since the day I first put it in it spot. Played a bit of Forza on Sunday, turned it off to watch the Grand Prix, then when I tried to turn it back on - red lights. Can't understand how something can just work one minute and fail the next.

Anyways, thanks for the tips everyone... gonna have to find a box somewhere.

Got an email saying it was dispatched on Saturday but am yet to receive my repaired console.

Also when I try to enter the shipping ref into the UPS website is says it doesn’t accept it.

Should I worry yet?

Mine wasn't far behind tbh - 27th dec

shame really. Elite for HDMI I think.....hmmmm :>
I traded mine for an elite as it has been back to microsoft on holiday twice.
At least if my elite goes belly up in the first year i can get it changed at the shop. The elite has a better chance to survive as they have the new cooling system.

Good to know

*strokes elite*

I'll sell my repaired one I think - maybe my sister would like to play Amped 3 :)

Been tempted to do the same. Gutted really because my mate bought an elite last week at a well know highstreet store for 299 with The Darkness and Blue Dragon. No where seem to have that kind of deal anymore. If only it had died a week earlier!!

How much you reckon you could get for a second hand premium?
