You ideal mental/sleeper car?

I always remember a Morris Minor i fancied a good few years ago, i seem to recall it had a Jag V12 engine in it and was faster than a Ferrari F40 to about 130mph+ (might be different, was in a car mag i read years ago!)

Bit of gooling:

Julian Russell's 3.5 Rover V8 ran a 13.53 at York in 1990. Quick, but not the quickest. Nick Mann's 3.5 litre turbocharged saloon covered the quarter in 11.1, faster than a Ferrari F40 or Porche 959.

However, Swede, Anders Ericsson's Minor (known as Bumble Bee) was driven by a 426 cubic inch Chrysler Hemi V. This car achieved a best time of 8.99 seconds with a terminal speed of 151.62 mph. Surely the fastest Morris Minor in the world?

You'll find out sometime next year. I have a very strict set of conditions it has to meet though.......Use all the uni facilities before I finish up :D

Giving this as little thought as possible...

I'd go for a grandad gold Rover 214 SLi 5 door with steelies and wheeltrims, cloth interior, stanadard looking exhaust but with a 270bhp T16-T under the bonnet with N0S and Toyo R888's on the front.

I love that V8 Mini idea.

1.8T in a Skoda Estelle maybe? I'd love a VVC K-series Mini, too. 200SX engine into a 1.0 Micra perhaps? . Too many absurd ideas to think up, all of them a million miles beyond my ability to make, unfortunately.

Dunno if it's even been done or even possible but I'd go for....

Saab 900 with a 4wd conversion and 500bhp V8, keep it looking as standard as possible from the outside!

If I had to build a sleeper, I would buy an E39 BMW M5, and replace the front and rear bumpers with those from the SE, the wingmirrors with SE items, conceal the exhuasts as per SE, fit SE 17" wheels, and badge it as a 520i.

Its a sleeper but its not a mental car really is it?

Dinan S2 with full SE kit is more like it :p might struggle to fit the SE 17" wheels over the huge brakes though?

Old type 4x4 fiat panda, with a tuned 1.3l Uno turbo engine. Hopefully the 4x4 system could take the extra power, and maybe upgrade the brakes. :D

I myself would love to shoe horn a 2liter v6 into the middle and back of a fiat chinquecento and make it rear wheel drive. Obviously everything would have to be upgraded on it, But leaving the outside as normal as poss apart from it would have to have larger wheels.

few of them exist. there is a 2.0 Cosworth powered Cinq. RWD. Based on an 899cc sx shell. So, non sporting colours, black bumpers. total sleep apart from the air intake attatched to the tinted rear side windows.

there is a 3.0 V6 RWD cinq, http://www.fiatforum.com/cinquecento-seicento/104018-mid-engined-v6-cinq-updated-7-5-07-a.html

and i know a guy dropping a 2.0 TC into the back of a one too.

I always wanted to put the 2.0 20V Turbo engine in a Punto and convert it to RWD.

seen a 20vt, FWD in a Punto and it's unsafe - car just aint wide enough, you loose too much of the inner wings etc. So unless you widen it all.. (like the Bravo HGT that ran the 20v lump had wider front ends than the others), the 16vt fits in a bit better :)

400bhp and 0-60 in 4.9 seconds with 155mph? It'd murder a lot of the stuff being suggested in this thread :)

Now you lay it down like that.....:D

I forgot how fast the E39 M5 actually was  for some reason i had it as 0-60 in 5.5 :o
