With the TF2 beta out on Monday and with Half-life 2 episode 2 and portal under a month away think its time we made an official thread.

Half-life 2 Episode 2, conintuiation of the half-life saga with a more outdoor feel to it than episode one.

A puzzle FPS with portaling theme to it with nokilling involved.

Team fortress 2, much anticipated multiplayer game with a fun feel to it

The orange box can be bought from steam for only 44.95 dollars, which includes Half-life 2+Episode 2+Episode 2+portal+ team fortress 2 + allowance to play TF2 beta this monday.

There is also the black box which as far as I know is only for ATi 2900XT owners.

I just put my order in for the box via steam so can't wait for the beta as i'll have something to play for abit now and not have to wait over a month :D

Should be around £26 what I paid thats including the tax so not bad really, cheapest I saw on the net was £24.99, im sure it will be sub £20 near release or just after but im not to fussed about the £6 extra as im sure it will be worth the fun playing around on the beta.

I've not played Episode one so I can play that until monday so im pretty happy witht he purchase.

Never completed HL1, got stuck somewhere on it and lost interest!
Just played Hl2 today for just under 3hrs according to steam, about 10minutes into "Don't go in ravenholm(sp?)"
Quite a good game but the music is annoying me, only thing that makes the game creepy is that!

I haven't played EP1 yet and I'm not really interested in TF2 due to the way it looks to have turned out. Would like to buy the retail edition though so I guess I may be forced to have them all.

Have pre-ordered my copy of orange box, have owned Half-Life since it was released and am really looking forward to the next chapter, was also a great fan of TFC (Team Fortress Classic) so am looking forward to testing TF2, Portals looks cool too ;)

Xionic

PS: Black Box is cancelled so no need to include it in thread title

Black Box is what all purchasers of ATis 2900XT have, and Valve are still honouring those codes...so it still exists and should stay in the thread title :)

TOB is my first PC purchase since I bought my Xbox 360. I haven't played HL2 since I completed it upon release, as I aren't a fan of Steam.

Installed Steam and pre-ordered TOB a few days ago and look forward to mostly TF2. It cannot bring back the good old days of TFC, as there are too many competitors around now but it'll be a laugh. Personally I preferred the old school version of TF2 shown years ago back at E3.

Played Eps1 for the first time last night and am really finding it dull. The AI in the game was never the best and the combine I've always found too weak, and plain when it comes to defensive tictacs. Those turbo suicidal zombies on speed are brilliant though!

Would it not have been better to just use the existing thread?

Indeed, makes you think that some people like to be the creator of the 'official' threads just for the sake of it.

I'd rather see three or four threads about various aspects of a game rather than one, 100+ page about every aspect that is impossible to get information from.

I think the word 'official' should be banned in the games forums.

So can you just buy TF2 on Steam? $15? i dont want all this HL2 episode 2 carp

Probably after the Beta Offer has gone, closer to release. I think the Orange Box is there for sale so they can make more money out of those people desperate to get their hands on the beta.

Its very similar what they did with Counter Strike source beta and the release of Half Life 2.

I did do the same back then but I was happy to do it even tho it was'nt the best price to be had at the time.

This time im very happy with the purchase as I dont have episode 1 nor have played it so I think £26 for beta test TF2 with episode 1 + 2 and portal is'nt to bad a price witht he option of transfer half life 2 onto another account if i wish to.

I think I may play through Half Life 2 again before playing Episode 1, not to sure yet, got plenty of time to kill until release day.
