The one's that have received the xbox back, are they refurbished or brand new ones?

I would say brand new, the one I had today had all the stickers covering the DVD drive and IR port. This is the second time I have sent one off and the one I recieved previously didn't have the stickers on it. I also had to run the intial setup programme which I didn't have to do with the previous one either.

Mine has landed today and, according to the wife, it's an October 06 console where mine was Nov 05. It took around 20 days.

Whats more interesting is that mine had been opened and severly hacked around with when I was trying to fix the 3RLOD problem using the info on the net. You could clearly see where I had used a screwdriver to split (literally, half the pins were broke off 'cos I was frustrated) the case open.

So, either they are happy to replace 360's that have been opened for modification / fixing, or, much more likely, they aren't even checking them when they get them off the lorry.

It is a empty box with a brick inside it,with a note saying that will teach you . :p

Mine was a refurb and still had stickers over the DVD drive and IR port. It was slightly newer, but definitely not brand new.

My last return took 32 days, from the June 8th ( Forza 2 releae date ) till a month later when all the hype had started to fade out.
My first return was quicker about 10 days. Both time I got my original console back a free months XBL card and with the last repair a free wireless pad - not bad i thought but thats 40 days downtime since Xmas. Frustrating but still worth it.

yeah I think mine was the same, a refurb but had all the stickers over the DVD drive etc. However im not really that fussed because its come back a lot quieter than my original :)

I received my replacement 360 today. 31 days from collection to delivery to my door (including weekends). No 1 month LIVE! credit, nothing apart from the box itself.

The IR port and DVD tray are covered with the usual peel back tape. Console manufacture date is 23/11/2006.

I've taken a look inside (from the bottom of the 360 using a torch) and found out that it doesn't have the modified heat-sink fitted (Visit this site here to see if your box has the new heat-sink fitted.).

I'm going to call up tomorrow and see what Microsoft will offer me for the time taken.

D'oh, seems like I'm in for a long wait then. What a crock.

From the time I posted my broken DS lite back to Nintendo to the time I received a brand new machine was less than 5 days. Now that's service.

Got mine back on thursday - was told it would take 25 working days+, but got it back in 14 working days.

Looks brand new (although I suspect it is a refurb). Quieter than the old one, had the stickers covering the IR port/DVD drive etc and had to run the initial setup.

All good so far :)

You think you guys have had it bad. My console has been with MS for a total of 63 days (45 working days), During which time ive been told its being sent back to me that day and will be with me in 7 days 3 times.

Total bunch of jokers.
