Sega Rally demo (Xbox360)

I will be trading in dirt to get this.
To me the graphics are better it has not got that stupid bloom effect and i have not noticed any slowdown or tearing.
Also it should be a lot more fun on line racing against other people.
Its a very good demo.

wow, the impressions from you guys are SO much more positive than those over at NeoGAF. I have a lot more hope for the game now.
They seem to think it's nothing like the old Sega Rally's in terms of feel and what have you. Very strange.
Either way i'll make my own mind up after a PC demo.... which they better release!

Looks like most of the posters have never played the original anyway. One idiot is complaining about racing three laps and states Sega Rally has always been one single lap, moron.

Heh yeah i did notice that. I wasn't too sure what he was trying to say as it wasn't making much sense to me. A fair few of them do know what they are talking about though so i guess its just different peoples opinions.

Any ETA on a PC demo?

im really glad it doesnt have damage, im a bit fed up with everything having to look the most realistic with everyone forgetting their arcade roots!
Gameplay and fun over graphics anyday ;)

but what about gameplay and fun and graphics? im not saying make damage affect car handling because that would be silly, but it would be nice to have some visual damage.

Why? if it aint affecting the car then whats the point really, keep it to it's roots :)

because it looks better? whats better smacking into a rock face and seeing your body work crumple or smacking into a rock face and bouncing off? SImilarly if you are neck and neck with a rival scraping against each others bodywork wouldn't you rather see the dents? Why keep to its roots? its a new game, surely there should be improvements! In this day and age theres no need for games without damage, they just look stupid.

It's not a new game it's Sega Rally :D

PGR and GT series I hate the way the damage is a visual thing only, either do it right or not at all IMO :D

I agree with Donna, people (especially those who hark on about SNES MK ^^) need to move on and accept a few new touches to some long running series. It keeps things fresh. I don't care either way about damage though but some new little touches aren't really an issue.

Touches that add to the gameplay yeah, like the terrain, what would you rather have, the terrain deforming, or fake damage to vehicles, can't have both mind...

Will you be wanting realistic damage if they re-make Crazy Taxi :)

Sega Rally is arcade to the core, I want it kept that way please, no need to move on, I want to move back when games were all about fun and how it played, not how it looked.

Well then initial thoughts are this feels incredibly refeshing for a racer, if theres a lot of content Sega are onto a winner in my eyes. The surfaces are noticeably different without being frustrating (mud is waaaay fun) and the way the track deforms adds a whole new level to things and makes sure each lap feels different to the last.

I think this is the game I've been waiting for since V rally championship on the N64, getting a long power slide around a hairpin is more immediately satisfying than perfecting your hotlap in a sim based racer imo.
