Hello all,

Not sure which after my core has bit the dust I'm going to buy another after payday next week, but I'm not sure which one.

It's between the Elite and Core to be honest.

If I get the core then, harddrive, component cable etc will plug straight in and all will be well.

Advantage of getting the Elite is that I'll use HDMI, freeing up the component ports for the Wii so I don't have to keep changing them about, as the X360 colours look crap through VGA. And ofcourse, the bigger hard drive, revised chipsets better cooling, as I don't want to get a release core.

I can afford either, what should I do?

Chars!

I'd go elite. My mate just got one cos his premium went belly up. Reckons hdmi is defo brighter and colours sharper. Also 120gb disk is nice when they release UK HD marketplace.:-)

The current 360 Elite is just as hot as the premium/core version as there have been no changes to either the motherboard, CPU, GPU, or cooling system.

The only difference is the larger hard disk and the HDMI cable, oh and the colour.

it sounds like you will make use of an elites features, so you might as well go for one.

high street video game stores are doing fairly favourable trade in deals on 360 hard drives at the minute so it may be worth checking them out when you have bought your elite.

I went for a core dont get one!
Get a premium instead or an Elite if you can find one reasonable as you will end up buying the HDTV lead hard drive wireless controllers etc :)

Elite definitely. The hard disk space will come in handy down the line, as well as the HDMI. Besides, black looks better IMO- not so conspicuous.

OT: I've been trying for the last couple of days to buy an elite myself, in a certain store in Harrow. Unfortunately they don't have stock :( , but they have assured me they would get a delivery this week.

lol dude, I had my core since release, I've got plenty of accessories and a 26" LCD HDTV :)

Internet order F.T.W

Can you not just get your Core repaired by MS? Or ahem, is that not an option.

Not an option ;-)

I voided the warrunty by cutting the grills off the back and trying the X-Clamp mod.

The temptation to run over it with the car is high as well :D

Because I've used it and comparing VGA to Componant on my LCD the colours are MILES better via componant.

When I first got my VGA cable mine was the same so I just let it gather dust. Then someone told me that a recent update fixed the 'washed out' colours. Now its looks just as good as component in the colour department.

Thats wrong, the elite models have the extra heat pipe/heatsink on the gpu.

In the same posistion mysef, probably would go with an elite personally

Seems silly to waste all the accessories you already have. Get the Core so you can use all the kit you have already.

The 120GB HD is a waste until the video marketplace is released here, no-one has a concrete release date or content list for this.

As for the HDMI thing. If all you want is to free up the component ports then get one of those passive component switchers. They let you plug in 2 component devices. They are less than 20 quid. There is one called "Gamecube YPbPr Power Box Input Selector".
