Playing Halo 3 Early? Byebye Xbox Live...

Microsoft has backtracked on its original threat to ban the LIVE accounts of gamers who have purchased Halo 3 early following high street retailer Argos' admin error.

Earlier today, a Microsoft rep told Pro-G that gamers who played Halo 3 early would have their LIVE accounts banned. The rep also confirmed that Microsoft was able to ban accounts based on information collected by the console which showed when the game was played.

However, Pro-G has since been contacted by another MS rep, who said the ban only applies to Microsoft employees.

What this means for those of you lucky enough to have taken advantage of the Argos error is that you can start playing the game, if you already weren't, free from retribution.

So basically these Pro-G people just made the whole thing up, or didn't have a decent source? And are now saying Microsoft have told them it's not going to happen :p

Meh, I'd still like to see this official statement for myself.

Banning Microsoft employees from playing it before release also seems a bit odd :confused:

If anything you'd expect Microsoft employees to get an early release of the game, surely?

Sounds to me like a M$ PR stooge just didn't have a clue what he was talking about, and got caught out by a question from those who do. The banning M$ employees from playing it is probably him trying to back-out without looking completely foolish.
 
I don't see what the big problem is here. If people get the game early, can't they just wait until after the release time to start playing. Or is 'patience' lacking in most people's vocabulary.

Why on earth would you wait if you had a legit copy of the game? :confused:
 
Ill likely get it early (by completely legit means, through work), im not sure what to make of this article though, maybe ill just disconnect my 360 until the release day and have a go on single player.
 
Im quite impressed this hasn't hit the "scene" yet with the multiple shops breaking the release date!

Especially after Halo 2 was leaked 1 month early! Albeit it a french copy!
