Scalextric - problems!

Random topic I must say, but was at some friends earlier this evening and they had got the scalextric out of the the attic. Put it together and when the 15v power supply was plugged in, the red light on the power base didn't light up and nothing worked.

New power base/mains adaptor needed or can it be rectified?
 
You have checked the fuse in the plug?
There may be one inside the power unit as well.

BTW I don't have a Scalextric

And it had better be a track that covers the entire living room, none of this figure of 8 rubbish :D

Generally what has been said, check the fuses on the plug, check that you are not shorting the terminals in some way and finally check that the connectors to the track are connecting properly
 
send the whole thing to me and i'll check it for you *quikcly shows electrical qualifications*

.. i had a similar prob with my headset, the red light on the amp decdied not to turn on one day. it coulda been either of two problems, the fuse or the adapter thing.. turned out i hadda replace the adapter and i was good to go..
 
My mate offered to give me an old Scalextric for free last night, the Mini Cooper S one. Sadly, I had to decline as I have nowhere to lay it out. :(:mad:
 
I apologise for not understanding what TTIUWP means :(

I can't get into the plug as it's sealed by 4 'screws' that are just completely flat, no slots for a screwdriver etc.

Am going to go down to the local model shop in the village tomorrow with the power base and the plug to get them both tested.

With regards to the picture, I'm afraid I only have one of everything packed up in my room as I said I'd 'test' it :p

Does the transformer hum? If so it's receiving power, just not outputting it. If there is no hum then probably fuse, if not that then dead transformer.
What's with the angles on the speakers?
 
scaltrix are great, had 10 boxes full of tracks and cars, swapped it for a set of alloys to my uncle in hope I would eventually get them back when I get a place of my own. Now theres been a stupid family row and don't have much contact with him. Gutted!
