UFC 76 - Good card - predictions everybody? **SPOILERS**

Yes but what makes him close to a title shot? Yes he beat Jardine which was a huge upset. But if you wanted to then test him you wouldnt put him in against a ex professional boxer! you would put him in with a ground specialist.

Prior to his Jardine win he has done nothing special. He lost to Jason Medina then beat the following fighters (note their records)

Jamie Webb: 6 - 23 - 0 (Win - Loss - Draw)
Chuck Purdow: 0 - 1 - 0 (Win - Loss - Draw)
Justin Butler: 1 - 1 - 0 (Win - Loss - Draw)
Brandon Quigley: 7 - 27 - 0 (Win - Loss - Draw)
Demian Decorah: 17 - 24 - 0 (Win - Loss - Draw)
Jon Murphy: 4 - 2 - 0 (Win - Loss - Draw)
No contect with Todd Allee: 1 - 0 - 0 (Win - Loss - Draw) ( 1 NC )

He has never won a fight by submission and his only loss came by a submission. Looking at his record and opponants it was obvious he was brought in to lose but by winning in an upsat and then against a strictly pro boxer he does not deserve to be anywhere near a title fight yet.

Before Jardine he hadnt fount a single guy in the top 30 and most his opponants had primerially losing records in the smaller shows!

He has a long way to go before getting a title shot.

Wouldnt you agree from this?

No, I wouldn't agree.

Looking at a fighters past record shouldn't always be the deciding factor in who should be considered for a title shot. Alexander beat a contender, so then should move upwards as opposed to relatively sideways. Look at Gonzaga, he was 'supposed' to get beat by Cro Cop - but still moved on to the title shot.

He's now beat Jardine, and Sakura ( who came into that fight highly regarded ), not only beat them, but dominated them. Surely he needs to be considered a force, agree?

Dana makes sure fights like this benefit him either way.

- Chuck wins via KO!
- Forrest wins via points!
- Diego via points
- Wiman to lose.

Not interested in others :p

Bring on UFC 77 though...Vera vs Sylvia, Vera will KO or submit him.

My predictions:

Chuck - by KO (Chuck has a better chin and more ko power)

Shogun - by KO (I like forrest, shame to see him get fed to the lion's)

Diego - by Sub (Fitch will control the fight with his supreme wrestling, but I think diego will catch him, if not then probably Fitch by UD)

(i'd like to see Nakamura win but i think) Machida - by Floyd Mayweather style JD (Nak is great though, should have given him a easier fight for his first imo)

Tyson - by JD (Should be a great fight)

I'd fancy Julius Francis is going to get his bottom handed to him here! He was past it in the ring probably a bit late for a career change!

He'll go prove me wrong now :o

Looks like he's carrying plenty of extra timber!

My God Francis was awful. However Turner was nothing to shout about as he had the mount twice, did nothing and even allowed Francis to get up from one of them.

Total money collecting performance by Julius Francis that was! Totally out of shape and never looked like he had anything.

First time I've tuned into cage rage and tbh it's a bit chav!! Out of shape blokes who can't get a fight in the UFC presented by people who look like they've just finished bouncing the door of the venue :D

With ropey birds dancing about.

I'll agree with you about the doormen lookalike presenters and imho, they sort of make the show slightly tacky. If they got rid of them and had some decent presenters and talked serious then it might be taken more serious.

I think Andy and Dave actually own Cage Rage, so they aren't going anywhere.

As for the fighters, they do seem to have only British and has beens on their cards, a poor mans UFC event.

Welcome to the UFC Shogun. :)

A nice £50 into my pocket.

The guys from Pride are not looking too good (bar Jackson). I always said, the UFC is a step up from Pride and its showing it so far.

EDIT: What is up with Chuck? He didn't seem up for it and never really pushed jardine.

Silva looked furious as he was hoping for a match with Chuck which is out the window. He could always fight Forrest or some of the other many top LH out there at the minute.

Chuck was very poor, got took apart really and didn't trouble Jardine once. Think Forrest was lucky to get the submission when he did as i had him 2 - 1 down. Fitch looked very decent i thought. Overall a pretty entertaining event though.

I do wish they'd show some of the undercards and stop padding the show out with so much crap. Too much talking not enough fighting.

they will never show more undercard fights cause they are sold on ufc on demand so it makes them more money.

Pride fighters are not worse than UFC fighters its just a big difference in the rules and being in an actagon rather than a ring.

Chuck looked great for the fist round but of course he looked awful after that. Those leg kicks are like being hit with a baseball bat. Try walking and pivioting on a leg that has recieved that much damage!

got to agree - what happened to Chuck??

Jardine was the clear winner but chuck was totally clueless - never really landed a single decent punch the whole 15 mins and Jardine total deserved the win. He's not champion material but his 15 mins of fame are well deserved.

Great win for Forrest - Shogun totally gassed in the middle of the 2nd round and from there it was only a matter of whether forrest could stop him.

Other fights shown were two crackers - really good action and all round a cracking UFC - really enjoyed them both

Fitch looked very good - did really well getting out of some of the potential stoppages.

Tyson Griffin fight was ace to!
