Hi guys im having a few problems finding online games to join in Halo 3 but i do get a message telling me to open my NAT on my router! So i do a connection test and it says my NAT is moderate which is a bit gash so does any one know how i can put this right?

Thanks.

Mate is having problems too with his crappy vonage router too, doesn't seem to want to go open, uPnP makes it go from moderate to strict lol =/

Can't even forward ports on the crappy router as it doesn't seem to work lol

I had that problem with my Linksys WRT54GSv4 router. NAT was showing moderate. Now got it to show open.

Fixed it by assigning static IP to the 360 then forwarding ports 88 and 3074 to the static IP of the 360, both TCP and UDP.

As hashcake said, very good specific infomation on this at http://portforward.com/routers.htm

If your router has a DMZ zone chuck your 360s IP in there.

Also for some reason this makes all the difference. You need to set your 360s network settings to Automatic. So make sure your router is set up to give the same IP address to the 360 so that the DMZ setting works.

For some reason even when the same details are entered in manual my 360 just wont have a open NAT.

It's showing as 'Open' now but it just doesn't connect to the Halo 3 servers :(

If it's open then it's doubtful the problem is your end.
I've read various reports the last couple days that XBL has been flakey.
I've not experienced it myself but one can imagine the servers are being hammered to death with the world playing Halo 3.

Any idea where i can find the 360 I.P?

If you set your 360's network settings to automatic your not going to get the same IP everytime you turn off and on your router or 360. Thats the whole point of setting it to manual, assigning a static IP then setting up your router to that IP.

Wrong. Even my crap BT home hub allows me to assign the same IP address to the same device (MAC address).

Yeah my NAT is Open, on a Linksys Wrt54g router, but in matchmaking - it always will say 0 games found 0 games avaialble!

Any ideas?

You are saying you have to be in automatic network settings and using DMZ. That is not true. If your system wont work in manual then thats something wierd in your particular set up. It should work in manual and it works fine for me. Its also the way stated on http://portforward.com/routers.htm

I was giving him advice on how it works on my setup. By chance it just might do the trick for him. I don't care if it's "wierd". I know it's strange that's why I said "Also for some reason...". I wasn't giving advice to you so go take your network guru self to the Network section of the forum.

You just stated you have to be in automatic NAT selection and DMZ on the 360. You did n't mention anywhere that its just what works for you but more as if thats the only way the game will work at all, totally contradicting what I posted earlier. I was correcting this as its wrong.

While your here, go read up on some manners, and no need to get a strop on!
