Just a word of warning, few guys in the office mentioned they had some random charges from trainline.gpt on their bills, I thought nothing of it until I came to take some money out of my account today, apparently I'd reached my daily limit! I dont even know what my limit is! more confused than worried I used another card and carried on. Got back to the office and decided to check my account, was pretty shocked with the results

as you can see either I've been to Thailand yesterday or my card has been duped, more worrying is this has been going of nearly 6 weeks and i never noticed, there were tonnes of these withdrawls (34 in total of totally varying amounts) , truely stupid and niave of me to never review my finances but I will do from now on.

so just a warning to you all, check your accounts and dont expect it to always happen to someone else!

Which credit company you with? I find it disturbing they haven't warned you, and/or blocked your card.

Happened to my friend a couple of days ago, wiped out her account. It's a real shame that when technology is so advance this can still happen.

I find it worrying too.

I would like to see the option of being able to block transactions from foriegn contries on accounts. Obviously there would be the option to unblock when you go on holiday/buiness etc.

This is why I check my account every day. I like HSBC too, unless I notify them that I am leaving the country, they will block my account from being used after 1 foreign transaction has been made and phone me straight away....this happened to me when I went to Thailand and didnt notify them.

How many mailorder ladyboys did you order?? :D

hehe ;)

im with natwest, spoke to them and im getting the whole lot back within 36 hours so thats a bonus!

as for where it happened I have utterly no idea, I enjoy a drink more than most and im always far too liberal with my cards, could have been a million and one bars in london so ill just have to be more careful, although given I got all the money back its no real incentive for me to wose up and smell the coffee!!

If several people at your work have had problems recently, I'd say it's almost certainly a nearby ATM. As part of their investigation, Natwest normally try to locate where the card has been compromised, so if you ask, they may be able to tell you.

I honestly never have any cash so im not sure ill be much help :(

if the 12k and 11k figures are your bank balance then :( at all of us mere mortals :(

At first I thought that was the amount they had withdrawn!

@ the OP, your going to be really suspicious of everywhere you use your card now. This happened to my uncle, and it was a petrol station that cloned his.

Have they intentionally taken out some small amounts to make it seem like you were on holiday there

Happened to me a couple of months ago from Thailand too, took nearly £2000 from about 14 withdrawals in 6 days.

I called Nationwide and the dumb lady on the phone said there was nothing she could do and told me to keep a list of how much was taken!!!! I told her to get her act together and cancel my card for a start.

Got it all back in the end though.

I actually used my card in an ATM in Bangkok recently and the card compnay were on the phone like a shot to see if it was genuine

looks like it may be a regular scam
