Yay another question thread.

Whens the falcon coming out?

Will it make a difference?

I heard the elite is the falcon 65nm processors is this true?

Sorry for the q's im anxcious as ive found out a friend has had 8 replacment 360's in the last year!

Xbox 360s with Falcon processors are already slowly trickling out apparently, but the GPU isn't die-srinked so I don't see the point. From what I've read, the GPU causes the RROD but I could be wrong.

The Halo Edition 360's are the ones that people have reported to contain the Falcon chips.

If you're desperate you could always just get one.. If you like green ;)

Hi there, numerous reports of the falcon being found in 0734 and above lot numbers of the Halo Special Edition console. As far as I am aware no others such as premium or elite have been confirmed with falcon/65nm.

Hopefully it will be an improvement, as it should create less heat and uses a revised cooling system. Though apparently the 65nm chip is only used for the CPU and not the GPU, which is where the most common RROD problem is.

Thats what i believe also.

I opened my xbox up one time after it crashed and felt both heatsinks, the GPU one was untouchable but the CPU one was mildly hot. I do have one of the first consoles with the old single heatsink though.

I think i will wait until all these problems are sorted out, they might be a bit cheaper then aswell. I cba messin about with resturning them. It makes me want to get a ps3 but imo 360 has way better games, but ps3 is better in most other respects besides online.

What would you guys recomend. In reality what are the chances of getting a dud console. I have air conditioning and could place the 360 near that, would that help? I really want one and i dont want the possibility of it breaking down put me off.

How many replacements have you ppl had? Is there anything i could do to prevent it?

its already started, lol

Surprise, surprise - Halo 3 Limited Edition 65nm box can get RRoD

Here we have the first ever reports of the Halo Limited Edition Xbox 360 suffering from the dreaded Red Ring of Death. What makes this 'special' is that these systems are supposed to come with the new 65nm CPU / GPU chipset which should in theory help reduce the RRoD problem the Xbox 360 experiences

Not all of them though have the new motherboard/cpu/cooling combo 0732, 0733 and some 0734 lot numbers were built with the existing elite/premium components. As mentioned earlier they only have the new CPU, the GPU will more than likly still be a problem so expect a few more RROD threads

Id expect a company like ms to improve their products especially when it could potentially cost them a lot of money. If they can improve the cpu why not the gpu? It would make the console more efficient weigh less because the power brick would be smaller. They cant lose really seeing how many consoles have been returned because of bad design.

Ahhh, that's a shame.

I was looking to pick up a Halo SE console soon. May just wait a few more months :(

Ah well if mine breaks I'll be straight down the shop for instant replacement.

If they don't have any limited edition Halo 3 consoles to replace it with I'll just ask for a Premium and some cashback since the Halo 3 one is like 20 quid more or so from where I got it from.

Depends on how the shop feels, they could just tell you to send it off to M$ as most places only do a replacement within 30 days. But then using the SOGA act will usually get you a replacement.

BTW nothing wrong with sending the 360 back to M$, i did a few weeks ago with my launch day console and its come back a lot more quieter and with a new dvd drive as my original one was stupidly loud. Took them just under 7 days to get my 360 back fixed.

Obviously I can't name the shop but when I got my Xbox 360 the guy at the counter stated pretty explicitly "and don't forget, you have a 12-month guarantee with us and an even longer one with Microsoft."

I imagine most shops have a similar policy and if they don't then I think it's in the law somewhere that you're able to return something within 12 months if it's faulty.
