BF2 Medals and BF2 Cheats

I returned to this game after a long absence and everything has gone belly up as far as I'm concerned.

1) Although my stats seem to update I cannot get any new medals, did 10 heals and no medal.
2) Cheating is now prevelant on some servers, instant kills, silly scores, some even admit it.
3) All EA UK servers empty, the community ones all seem to run the same maps. I can't find UK servers which run all maps.
3) Still loads of bugs in the game.
4) Still people TKing for planes, standing infront of them, etc. etc.
5) Only one new map, although I'm downloading Project Reality Mod to see what thats like.
6) Took me 2 days to install correctly and get it to work on Vista x64 (To stop the game crashing out you have to use Visual Studio Command Line to edit the executable BF2.exe) and widescreen (Create a shortcut of the BF2.exe file with your new screen resolution.). These are things you cannot expect your average person to do, especially mess around with Visual Studio (Lucky for me I'm a developer).

Anyone have comments or resolutions to some of the above problems.

No help for any of the above, but I have to say, just prior to getting ET:QW I was considering getting and playing BF2. From everything you listed, I am kind of glad I didn't.

Do EA still patch BF2? It wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if they didn't given EAs penchance for just reinventing games rather than maintaining them (e.g. Battlefield, C&C, etc).

I have found the same things, it's not fun like it was when it first came out and had a buzz.

I noticed all EA UK servers empty and the amount of Teamkills going on.

I have a very high spec machine but the game keeps getting connection timesouts since I have installed it on Vista 64 where as other games with higher specs run fine.

Question is will there ever be Bf3 for the PC

The thing is I actually like this game, as compared to other multiplayer games the scale, team effort, wide variety of vehicles just can't be beat. I've yet to play another game like it, although I have yet to play 2142 which I heard was not as good.

Returned to it recently after being disappointed with quarke wars. Started with the infantry only servers and had a great time, didn't see any cheaters tbh. Been playing on some normal servers and just get annoyed with all the "pro" pilots why oh why can't we have dumbfire missles to protect ourselves?

BF2 is 'finished' (Hah!) as far as EA are concered. There will be no more patches for it. I play on BF2142, but theres more bugs in that so i stopped.

yep, sadly bf2 is slowly dying a death, but its not a problem since Team Fortress 2 is out and just cant be beaten for pure fun

The sad thing about BF2 though is that although you gain space on the left and right of the screen, you actually lose space at the top and bottom. Blame EA for that.

Could be but there some good brit servers around. get a lot of the new players crying hacker a lot. Some don't realize that after 1000 odd hours people know the maps inside out and other tips learnt. Have be more supisious of late of a number of players but you never know with Uavs.

ive no doubt there will be many who still play it, but its an old game now that still offers an alternative to say counter-strike etc, but like with all games they slowly lose their following .... im sure EA/DICE will be badgering away at a new battlefield game because we will always need massive maps with vehicles as an alternative to the countless urban types around if only Dynamix would make Tribes 3

I love bf2, theres always plenty of 24/7 wake servers, and usually a good number of well admin'ed servers, this game really isn't dieing yet, ea may have abandoned it, but this will leave the players that enjoy it, not nubs that got the game because its brand new!

Still play it but the hacks have become more prevalent, these are in your face don't give a crap hackers, taking you and your team out from half way across the map, the current aimbot in operation is just taking the ****, the nub hacks cant miss.

i still play (and enjoy) BF2. i'm still adamant that the M16A2 (medic, not assault) is the best weapon in the game. i got 8 kills in about 10 seconds on one magazine. (single shot duh) awesome gun
