Royal Mail Strike Action

Post of the day, what a simple job I’ve got, just a case of walking and putting something through a hole.

What do you do answer/make telephones calls

Obviously my post was a broad generalisation, but your average postie doesn't do a great deal more than that.

No, I design software for a living. You should be happy in the job you're in - try doing something with a level of stress and you'll soon have something to complain about.

What a fool, you and Cuchulain.

Wake up.

What I really don't understand is if RM employees are so damn furious about this why don't they move job? Surely a private firm would employ them?

Oh no wait - perhaps they're onto a good thing at RM?
Look, everyone needs a job, even those people who didn't go to university and get degrees. The Post Office is a major UK employer, it offers a service that is second to none and is now in the position where it's being sold down the river by the Government. Whats worse is that the vultures that are pecking at it are mainly from Europe. How about a bit of national pride here?

Besides, the reason that people aren't moving jobs and are trying to protect them is because a lot of people have long established jobs that they like and are trying to protect them and their wages that they earn from them.

I'm sorry you have to stay till 5.30, I don’t see the difference 'I' choose to work quicker so I get my duty’s done, doesn’t everybody in life  If I worked slower took breakes all the time which would result in finishing on time would that make you happy?

Yes, it would make me happy if our postman took a little more time to match the address on the letter with the address he delievers it to. Last week our entire street got each others post, right street but wrong numbers. Then after a complaint he got the numbers right but the wrong street.

Now I understand why he's always in a rush - working faster allows him to get back in time for Jeremy Kyle.

I knew all the stuff you just posted, try looking in the old Royal Mail Strike Actions threads - I posted it there.
Well your suggestion that that was a reply to totally contradicted your "knowledge". So if I've missed the point you were trying to make maybe you'd be good enough to explain what you meant....

Grrr, this strike is really beginning to annoy me now!

Finally finished editing a 80mp photo (was a merge of a few shots, and getting all 300-people perfect took loads of Photoshoping!) and big nice prints of it should have been delivered by last thursday (4th) but I'm still waiting for it! Was meant to be presented to some peeps on saturday (6th) but had to give them an A4 version done on my home printer while I wait for the real one to be delivered

What a fool, you and Cuchulain.

Wake up.

How am I a fool? I'm not the idiot who's out on strike costing Royal Mail around £260 million in losses yet for some reason expecting conditions to improve. From what I gather you're being asked to work just over 37 hours a week with paid overtime, I fail to see a problem with that unless you're just plain lazy.

Me wake up?

I'm not the one on ******* strike am I? Inconveniencing the entire ******* country! One good thing to come out of this will hopefully be the demise of the RM. Scumbags.

Took you much thought to write that? seriously you both are narrow minded you’ve obviously got something against RM employees and the company its self and keep on spouting bait.

Couldn't of said it better myself.

I've NO sympathy whatsoever with the RM; maybe a few years ago I would have, but not now. Simple fact is I've lived in 3 different cities, and in all areas I've suffered thefts by RM employees.

Case in point - I used to subscribe to an online DVD rental place, and in 12 months I had 22 DVD's stolen whilst in transit, somewhere in the RM system. Once they even ripped the packet open, took the DVD out and delivered the empty sleeve.

Even if I hadn't had years of trouble with the RM, you think I wouldn't be annoyed at the sheer inconvenience they have caused me and the country by their strike action?

Wise up, read the thread and you might understand why people are slightly annoyed.

Oh the Strike? Slipped my mind sorry.

Okay I myself have being affected by the strike but I’ve dealt with it like the vast majority of the public not spat my dummy out on a public forum, why has it caused you such hard ace?

Spat the dummy out? Or just expressed how angry I am? Complete difference.

And the vast majority of the public aren't members of this forum as far as I'm aware, so your comparison is somewhat strange.

That's odd, the cheif exec was on radio this morning saying the biggest problem was that the unions didn't want RM staff to work full days for a full days pay. If you knock off early you finish your round early you can claim overtime for then going into work - even though you're meant to be working anyway.

Just wait and see what happens when posties start work ON TIME not EARLY and stop using their cars. Then the country will be ******!

As soon as this happens it will be the end for Royal Mail, no more charity just working the hours your paid. Worse would be if customers refused to look after bags for their postie, then Royal Mail is done for. The cost of delivering mail will soar. Strikes are nothing compared to the damage posties could do by refusing to use their cars.

Assuming you're on strike, you're part of the probem, not the solution.
