Half Life 2: Orange Box

There are just some sections in which the volume of enemies may be an issue imo. I think I'm just so used to twitching around on my keyboard that I can't imagine it on a pad. But I'm very interested to see what happens with it. :)
Is HLDM2 included on 360?

You have to remember the Xbox 1 ran Half Life 2 just fine, and that's far more intensive than Episode 1. The Source games will be a cakewalk for the 360.

I have a feeling RuM meant in terms of accuracy with large amount of enemies (dotted around) than the actual frame rates running HL2 on the 360...

And as far as I have read, HLDM2 is not included but that would be a nice touch if it's available as free content on XBL - but I very much doubt that, Valve might want more players on TF2 than on HLDM2...

I thought Orange Box was a compilation of content that is available on PC, but by the sounds of it this TF2 is new on all 3 platforms?

What does Orange Box contain and what bits of it are already available on PC (i.e. through Steam or whatever).

I can't understand how it would be the same game on PC and 360 if the control methods are different. Sounds like the different controls may make this a different experience on console vs pc even though I guess the 1 player games will be the same, with maybe consoles getting the usual dumbed down autoaim etc. (I doubt my PC would run these so it will be 360/ps3 version for me).

I am trying to find videos of this TF2 as from the screenshots I like the cartoon style sprites, although I have no idea about the gameplay element.

edit: just seen a video on gametrailers that showed a bit of each of the games. Looks very impressive, like the charcters in TF2, it almost looks like a cartoon!!

Aye I meant control speed not the framerate which I wouldn't expect the 360 to have an issue with. :)

Those achievments look mental!

Beat Episode One firing exactly one bullet. Grenade, crowbar, rocket, and Gravgun kills are okay!

Eurogamer review:

http://www.eurogamer.net/article.php?article_id=85044&page=1

'Running on a big HD screen, the game has never looked better or felt more immersive - even more so if you're blessed with a decent 5.1 audio set-up. Load times (or reload times) are minimal, spooling data off the disk for ten seconds every five minutes or so, and reloading the game roughly as quickly after a death. Better still, the game has an excellent autosave system (which even remembers to retain the previous autosave, should the game accidentally autosave itself, say, just as one of you is about to die - as happened once) and there are none of the stutters or hitches that once were the bane of PC owners a few years back.'

'The only area some of you might get a bit sniffy about is how the game feels on a joypad. As someone who was forced to adapt to FPS control on a joypad after years of preferring mouse control, I can assure you that Valve has done a fantastic job. Not once does the game cop out by giving you auto-aim, but manages to make every game feel every bit as slick and smooth as it ever did on the PC.

Take Portal, for example. Later in the game when you're rotating in mid-air, diving headlong into the ground and shooting portals from up high, you desperately need a degree of instant precision that joypads don't offer - yet the game felt every bit as playable despite this. '

HL and its mods (CS & TFC) were the two multiplayer games I grew up on and if it wasn't for them I don't think I would still be into gaming today so I have been really looking forward to playing this. The only problem is that my computer is so outdated I never got round to even playing HL2 or any of the source mods. Now that I have a xbox360 I am over the moon that I can finally pick up the story again and get the bonus of Portal and TF2 aswell. It's a must buy for me even if the controller may be a bit trickey. I always think of it this way being a MP FPS gamer going from PC to xbox360, it doesn't matter how hard it is to use the controller because everyone your playing against has the same controller and console but when playing PC games some people will have better PC's then you so really it is more ballanced on a console (hope that made sense).

I WANT FUNS WITH DOG!

got to say i probably will pick this up, i never did complete hl2 on my old PC, i want to be able to play it with decent gfx.

Also TF2 looks great, one of the titles i have most been looking foward to :)

Never played any of this half life 2 stuff. Only played Counterstrike for about a year casually (around 1.5-1.6). Will I enjoy this? From what I understand it is a bunch of PC mouse and keyboard based games. Will this be any good with a 360/PS3 controller? I know HL2 is not a Q3/UT speed game, but no idea about the other games you get in this bundle.

(I guess I have an extra monthish to decide, as I will prob wait for the PS3 version).

I was having this discussion with Inoshishi last night on MSN where he thought TF2 would struggle with the joypad (with all the others being fine) because of the pace of the game. I personally think it will be fine with a joypad due to the many player classes in game, something like 'Heavy' or 'Demo' would be fine with a control pad. In fact, the only one I could see causing any bother is the 'Scout', but even then, one fast character should be fine on a joypad.
The difference between that and UT/Q3 is that it's not an arena game, so as a result it doesn't depend on all characters being lightning quick, of equal speeds or being crack shots and I truly believe that when that isn't the case then a game will work well on the joypad.

Nearly beat Portal (18/19) and I have to say it's a pretty amazing game. I think everyone will be surprised at just how playable and fun it is.

So... anyone pre-ordered one yet?

It'll be out in 10 days time and I'm very tempted to preorder. Team fortress 2 looks amazing, esecially coupled with XBL and I've almost but not complete HL2 on my PC, so here's my chance to finish it on the Xbox360... plus the 2 episodes.

What are your thoughts on it?
Oh and I haven't a clue what Portal is but 5 games in 1 box sounds good to me:)

 Portal is the most enjoyable "unheard of" game in the box imo. Go check it out now!!

I've played HL2, Ep1, DOD:s and CS:S on the PC since they were released, so I'd only be buying them for Ep2 and TF2

...not sure if I will buy on launch for that reason.. who knows!

Looks like I may get this, although it is looking like the PS3 version will be released around when UT and Haze come out (Nov), assuming they don't slip. Might be too much FPS in a month for me. I don't bother even putting down pre-orders anymore as I get easily disappointed when the release dates get delayed (which i every other game on ps3!).

Can someone summarise the TF2 gameplay for me? (I am still unsure which bits of this Orange box already exist on PC and which bits are totally new (obviously all the elements are new for ps3/360).

Are you not getting it on Xbox360?
Also, what's with signing off rp200 rather than 2000 on your posts now?

According to IGN, looks like Valve haven't gone back and tarted up HL2 anymore than they needed to which is a shame. I was expecting nice textures and HDR lighting and whathaveyou. Apparently they've just used the Xbox code rather than redone it afresh.

Which makes you think the PS3 version might be slightly prettier as that has had to be done from scratch. Just hope EA doesn't botch it up completely.

Yeah, that's correct. From the title menu there is a Bonus Maps option to select. This takes you to challenge and another mode I forget the name of.

Here's a screenshot from the PC version of Ep2. Looks pretty good.

Unreal Tournament 3 got pushed back for PS3 aswell as Xbox 360 too didnt it? Apparently its slated for a Q1 2008 release.

According to GameFAQ's and IGN that is the case anyway.
