I agree with your sentiment, but it's not like removing it stops you connecting wirelessly, they could simply support official/unofficial USB adapters, or just use a £20 wireless bridge.. the upside is an even cheaper console if you don't want to use WiFi, and the 'option' to use WiFi should you want to ..
Quite frankly memory card/usb slots come into the same category, just use a usb hub for more usb sockets, and use any £3 usb card reader..
And PSP interaction is something few people care about, it's been promised a million times, bugger all seems to have materialised becuase people don't really want it, it' seems more of an exercise in futile features..
Less of the rollie eyes and flippancy young man

although getting rid of the sixaxis part of the pad wouldn't harm it
My biggest gripe with the PS3 (I do have one!) is it's way too overpriced as a console, and whether fanboys want to agree or not, sales are proving that this is a credible statement..
it may be 'cheap' as an all singing all dancing machine, but it's a jack of all trades and master of none to me and it seems perhaps many others.
Now it's getting sub £300 and likely to get to £250, then it's a great games console for the money (we still need games).. and when it's sales pick up due to Sony now back tracking on their arrogance and giving us a 'cheap' next gen console it will really shake MS up who are going to have to fight for our money!..
