360 Premium or Elite?

Hi,

I've just bought myself a shiny new TV and think that it deserves a 1080p input source to brighten up my house. Basically my question is this; assuming I'm not seduced by a PS3, should I get a HDMI enabled premium/pro or an elite? Do people find that they easily fill the 20gb hd? Are there any other considerations except aesthetics in having an elite?

I apologise as I'm sure that similar questions have been asked before.

Thanks in advance.

If I was buying a 360 now I'd go for the Elite.

EDIT

It's closer to 13gb of useable space, which can fill up pretty quickly.

basically I guess It boils down to whether the larger HD is worth an extra £100? When the video service starts will I wish that I had that extra space? Also does anyone know when the 65 nm chips will start to see the light of day?

If you fancy getting the HD DVD add on then the premium as they're the same colour. If I was to buy one now though it would be the elite, you could easily fill up 20gb (13gb useable) with demos and arcade games.

*edit*screw that, the premium/pro HDMI can be had for £194.99, so I'd have one of them.

While I do agree that the Elite offers no significant advantage over the premium, it is technically the 'best' version of the 360 you can get, which is why I would go for it.

I just bought a Premium today.

Got it with Blue Dragon, Halo 3 and PGR4; all for 249.99 from the place that has ~"everything under one roof".

@Gezzard

I've seen that offer too, and I think that's why I'm so uncertain as to what to do. Basically in the end I can have a pro with no games for that price or £260 for pro with PGR4 and Halo 3 or £300 for an elite with Halo3. Very difficult decision. Also I am really peeved that the XBOX is not wireless. It is the one thing that sways me towards a PS3......

edit# But then there are no games that I actually want to play

Id personally go for the Premium if I could get one with HDMI. Even with the 20gb HD, I always seem to have at least 10gb free, I download a lot of demos and the like but usually delete them soon after trying them.

Yeah I dont really keep stuff on my HDD that i'm not playing or haven't played in a while, which is why I think i'll be ok with a 20gb, Plus the movie thing thats due out really doesnt interest me either.

unfortunately the premium deals are far too good at the minute, and it makes them the better choice.

ive got lots of gamesaves and still have 10gb+ free, couple of demos and a 1gb HD south park in the mix.

I'd also like to know if people find it easy filling the 20gb, I want one of those Halo 3 360's :D

Nah, unless you wanna go and get every single demo on the marketplace 20GB is more than enough.

120 is only gonna be needed if/when video marketplace comes out, I won't be using it anyway so 20GB does me fine.

If my Halo 360 breaks though I might just get a refund and buy an Elite since they don't cost much more than my Halo's RRP anyway.

Yeah but the Halo's are different, like me :D

I agree with the others really, 13GB is more then enough (the other 7GB is used for backwards compatability and cache'ing of game files) I have 3,5GB Free, 8GB is used for HD game trailers (which will be deleted very soon :)) while the other ~2-3GB is used for map packs and game updates etc

man speaks the truth and u can always just stream movies and music from your pc as well. 20gb is just fine :)

Remember you can delete and redownload content you've puchased in a background / low power mode if the system is off so if you've a good internet connection it's really not an issue.
