I suspect this may be a repost?? Anyway,

Max power 375 bhp @ 3,100RPM
Max torque 520 lb ft @ 1,800 RPM
170 mph
60 mpg

Opinions?

I don't see why someone paying 60k on a car would be fussed about fuel consumption. It's not like you buy a sports car for a daily commute.

It also only shows fuel economy for when travelling at constant 56mph. It would be a lot lower combined.

agreed... impressive - there's no doubting that. i can't but help this would be more at home in a BMW 5 series (M5d?).... :o

Hi modern diesels arnt that heavy anymore, the new Focus 2.0 TDCI is lighter then my old 1.8 TDCI.

Just....no. Sportscar + diseasal = wrong.

The figures are only half the story, I wouldn't want a sports car with a narrow power band and hardly any revs.

Besides, it's damn ugly.

3100rpm really sounds like fun :/

Indeed.

rev's are nothing, torque is the key to everything

Not this old chestnut again......

Wheel torque is the key to everything. High revs means the ability to have short gearing, hence high wheel torque.

The problem with diesels is the fact that they have to have stupidly long gearing to compensate for the lack of revs, hence that massive torque becomes considerably less massive by the time it actually gets to the tarmac in most diesels.

The thing in the OP gets over that by having an 8-speed gearbox.

Just because peak is at 3100 RPM that doesnt mean it wont rev.

My car revs to approx 4850 RPM and my old 1.6 went to around 6500, yet I find the diesel much more fun. Newer dervs rev even higher, the 1.6 HDI/TDCI revs to 5200.

Wow, a whole 5200  ;)

The may have a higher redline, but peak torque and power is made at considerably less revs, so it is pointless revving them anyway.

K, see your point on this one.

6 speeds was just about pushing it for cars, 8 officially makes this a truck...

Was wondering how huge it would have to be with 8 speeds and to handle the torque.... turns out it's rear mounted. Think that means it has a transaxle?

4500RPM redline:

"The power supplied is in excess of 375 bhp at 3100 rpm, whilst its torque in excess of 520lb/ft at 1800 rpm gives us an extremely easy car to drive with low engine speed (maximum 4500 revs) and it will last for up to 250,000 miles."

"Computer calculations have been made suggesting a top speed of 230 mph, 0-60mph in under 4 seconds and at 56 mph, fuel consumption in excess of 50 mpg (equates to 400 revs per minutes in 8th gear)"

400RPM in 8th gear to get 50MPG... so, probably nowhere near that in real driving terms :/
