Excuse me while I pick up piece of my left lobe...

Its a series of puzzles and "rooms", featuring a veritable obstacle course of acid pits, small inferno's and disturbing machine gun turrets. You have to basically work through this "training camp" by using a gun that creates portals. You step through the entrance portal and come out of the exit portal on the other side of the room (or in the roof, or in the floor or wherever you want to create it). The jist is of course, you can only place portals on certain surfaces. You can even, if you want, creat a portal above a portal and just fall through them forever.

Also, it has a hilariously sadistic sense of humour.

Sounds quite fun. But doesn't sound like it has to good replayability as i would have thought you can only go through each mission/room/whatever in certain ways.

thanks for posting a picture of this... for those who yet to complete it :(

i have done my best to avoid anything to do with portal and HL2 EP2 screens.
find this thread... didnt think anything would be about portal inside...

and BAM! cheers dude. much appreciated.

Holy No Swearing!, major spoiler,it showed a cake!!!! Thats it, its no use me playing it now.

Yeah portal owns, there is SOOOOO many innovative things it basically redesigned the whole FPS Puzzle genre, no it created it! The puzzles got progressivly harder and they really used all the power in my noggin' Damn those fiendish guys at valve they are truly evil.

And the computer talking to you and being evil, that was a truly ORIGINAL idea, I dont think it's been used in any games which is a shame. The humour was top class too. It was well mature a good break from the benny hill humor from most video games.

And the music WOW that song at the end had my roffling my waffle for hours. I think it was a great idea to have a funny song in a game again i this is a totally new feature for a video game I think more games should have funny cute bubble gum songs.

A+++++++ 94/100 GOTY etc

Yeah you're right. But like i said above, expect thousands of new maps made by players to appear all over the place. Also there are "advanced" challenges, and the Achievements that like you to do it in a certain number of steps, jumps etc.

For the money (£10?) it is most difinately buy of the year.

Honestly why dont you just sod off and get a life you tart.

He goes into every Portal/HL2/EP2 related thread and posts complete rubbish about how much he hated the game. He makes no attempts to engage in lateral conversation. He does nothing except spit on Valve and everything they do. He comes here and makes obvious sarcastic posts which show his lack of wit and intelligence to actually debate the shortfalls of the game. He feels such a minority, he cannot actually converse in a thread of positive remarks for the games, so much so, that he just says "it's crap" and goes to every other thread just trying to put people's backs up. And it's working. His constant ignorance and retarded posts do nothing but annoy the people trying to have an actual discussion about a game. I'm here trying to tell you about how good this game is and he hates that so much he has to ruin YET ANOTHER thread with his pathetic hatred of Valve. And the fact that he is allowed to continue to do so is even more insulting.

Descent was brilliant.. but so easy to get disorientated lol.

We managed to play that on the college network years ago with 8 of us, whilst in class. Was funny, back then it was just verging on using mouse and keyboard for controls, and one guy thought it was the best technique. We tried to ban him over using the mouse, as we couldn't understand why he was killing us easy lol. Eventually i got better and wiped everyone out using just the keyboard. Oh happy memories :D

When i finally get a better graphics card I look forward to playing portal :)

Just finished this and thought it was awsome, Im not really into puzzle games and like others this had me hooked. If you havn't bought it then id highly recommend it.

I loved it too - completed it quite quickly (although enjoying it!) and was definitely worth picking up with the Orange box.

Only game which I've played and at points thought "ah crap, I'm going to have to jump off this aren't I?" :D

just completed it.

didnt want to rush it, wanted to play when i get the chance while playing other games.
really great game!

loved the ending. very clever aswell. Valve allways done a nice job with source engine and there programers. will keep playing it aswell :)

meh, portal is good, personally i do agree that the ickle cute song, and the computer humour was very weak and i basically paid no attention to it.

the puzzle part is fine, infact, parts of it are genius. but theres nothing more to it now, intergrated as a "part" of a game would be fantastic, but if it became the single important overused part of a game -- much like prey -- it would completely suck. sure loads of people will make maps, but theres only so much innovation that can be added without extra bits. as in, you could stick a portal in a pool of water, fill up another area causing you to be able to swim over a gap, or raise a box or whatever, but i'm not sure people will be able to "add" that kind of extra.

if its limited to whats there now then we'll simply get more difficult complicated sequences of jumps/shots to make. as in make a billion portals and eventually get it right. the working out what to do next part is the interesting part for me, executing it is ok but for me holds no lastability. most custom maps will simply be copies of what you have to do now, but trial and error when executing.

like i said, its great, but it needs to be one part of a game with many other interesting bits, rather than the sole focus of a game otherwise the gimmick wears out.

Get the feeling it will be really overused in ep 3.
