I don't agree with this bit, how many of the Brazil side that won the WC played in Brazil? How many of the French side played in France? Next to none so the amout of Brazilian or French players playing in there league made no difference because none were in the national side.
Our problem is the lack of technically gifted players to choose from and that's because of the standard of coaching at youth levels.
Not really as next to none of the players playing in there home leagues are/were good enough to get into the national sides. Yes they have more players to choose from, from there own leagues but they're not getting into the sides because they're not good enough so that can't be used as a reason why they are successful.Errr .. doesn't that kind of ram the point home even more? Not only do the French and Brazilians have their own leagues full of home grown players but they also have players in foreign leagues .. it just makes the pool of talent even bigger ..![]()

Its only been Italy that won the WC while having all (at least the bulk of it anyway) there squad play in Italy but they have just as many foreign players in there league too.

Scotland game was very poor to say the least.....Woeful performance from all
Mourinho for England ?
Correct, but I know enough to see they are sod all without the man kicking the ball between the posts. I know enough to see they have done bugger all for the last 4 years apart from live off the world cup win.
I know enough people from other parts of the world to know england are seen as playing an awful form of rugby. Sure its been effective, but it doesnt make it pretty.
Constant blaming of mclaren, the lack of fight is always put at someones door. Never the players. Which manager do you think will get some fight from these players?
Loki is right the game needs looking at from the bottom. Its no coincidence the last few teams to win the world cup have about 30% overseas players, yet we have over 70% and are getting nowhere.
The dutch are the same and they get nowhere.
The FA needs more power because most of these guys can't be arsed to turn out for england friendlies. The next england friendly Rooney will have a bad back, Gerrard will have a groin strain and so on.
These players know their position is safe. They should drop those players and make them fight for the place. Leave the people in that do turn up for friendlies.
But nothing will change, we will employ another big name manager and limp along. We can employ Fergie, Wenger or whoever. 1 tournament later we would be hearing about them being tactically crap.
Its the players, they just aren't really that good.
Only if Russia draw or worse with Israel. We (England) will still make it in the end. Always do it the hard way!
Chin up lads.
Of course McClaren is not soley to blame - the people in charge of selection at the FA should be fired, and the press themselves ought to be ashamed of themselves for stoking up this 'little England' mentality, stating that the new manager should be English. But it seems we have differences of opinion on that matter also.
