How much did you pay for your first years insurance? (0 NCB)

Just paid £976 TPFT with my dad as a named driver for a 1.6 Focus. I rung them up to see if they could beat their online quote and they quoted my £1200 , they asked me the exact same questions that i answered online as well.

I think it would have been cheaper if my mum drove and i could add her to my policy but she doesn't so meh.

Drink driving conviction or something?

South London Postcode, Full business use with 30K miles, license for only 20 months.

Quotes ranged from 2.4K to 7K.

Had lots of problems as the car has lots of factory fitted options which the firms didn't like. For some reason front and rear parking sensors increased the cost! Surely it should reduce the chances of a parking accident.

£4400 on a Rover 214.

But I did Pass Plus the day I picked my car up, so £2200 :)

Pass plus halved your premium?, i think it knocked about £200 or so off mine. That was a fair old amount to begin with, you weren't seriously considering paying that were you?.

Yep, halved the premium. I was pleasantly surprised.

Nah, I mean, I've paid some ridiculous amounts in the last few years, but I'd never pay £4000 for car insurance. I was originally looking at a Mk1 Clio as a first car and they were coming in at close to £2000 for the insurance.

My Dad suggested a Rover 214, so I did a few quotes and found that with Pass Plus, I could insure one for the same price as a 1.2 Clio. I could have done Pass Plus and insured the Clio for about £1200, but I was happy with my choice :)

900 TPFT for a 1995 1.6 306xs 8v. Including mods of a 106 S2 Rally Inlet manifold and custom 4 branch manifold. Then someone hit me in a car park and wrote it off. French tin isn't made like it used to be >_>. I would be lucky to get that insurance quote these days. Im paying 1000 for my turbo'ed primera and thats with no claims discount!!

Last year I paid around £1070 for my 1977 Mg Midget 1500 at 18 with 0 NCB and one accident within the previous year- the policy was third party fire and theft and I limited the mileage to around 1-2K as I don't tend to use it much while at uni.

Wouldn't be cheaper to get a taxi for the entire year ?

:D You dont need to declare factory options, you have confused the hell out of the phone girl's making them think its all aftermarket! Youve been totally had with that insurance

21 - £1300 TPFT with NUD & Pass Plus discount - Pug 306 1.9 TD
22 - £750 TPFT with NUD - Pug 306 1.9 TD
23 - £800 Fully Comp with Endsleigh (Zurich) - Mondeo Ghia 2.0l
24 - £1600 Fully Comp with Endsleigh (NU) - Audi A6 2.7TDI

Hopefully it might get a bit better once I'm 25...probably not :(

£450 fullycomp on a Scirocco 1.8 GTi, 0 ncb, as I had been driving company cars for a few years. Guess I was about 23/24 at the time. Pay less than that now for my 530d fully comp :)

hink it was about £1400 for my sunny SR, but might have been nearer 1k. Really can't remember how it was 5 years ago. this feb i will renew with 5 years no claims + pass plus :D

£2400 on my 1.4 mk3 Astra. I felt it was worth it... Im paying £1000 now for my celica with only 1 years no claims (accident in 2005)

£800 for an old style Mini Cooper.

Went fully comp as well, because 3rd party worked out more expensive, work that out?

Hence the reason I went to Adrian Flux who wasn't interested in the options.

I did have the argument about factory fitted options with other insurers but things like the larger wheels still pushed it up. I don't think it helps that the car is group 15 to start with.

I remember previously looking at the cost of a 1.8 Focus with my postcode and that was coming out at £1.6K
