Whats your Career?

I'm a Customer Services Development Officer for local government. I basically design business processes that take customer facing procedures away from back offices for implementation into the Contact Centre and One Stop Shop environments. A large proportion of my role is to deliver the necessary training and administrate the CRM so that the the Customer Service Advisors can deal with enquiries.

Have worked for the local authority for 15 years now, started as a Business & Admin Youth Trainee, £30 a week for 2 years was well worth it. 5 promotions to get to my current role.

2nd-line IT support. Contracting so I get fancy wages for fairly basic work. Currently at a company that makes chips for mobile phones, broadband equipment and defence etc. I've been there over a year now.

I've wondered about contracting, seems to be the way to go. Mind if I add you to MSN to pick your brain a little? :)

Scuzi youve got me very intrested in a job in air control of some sort. Id like a job that im not going to die of bordum... so obiously i took further maths as an A level :). But i am highly compelled by money and earning 55k at 22 sounds like heaven for me :)

Sounds like a very intresting job as well. What is the training like and what sort of A levels do you need to get in? I gues lots of people apply and not many get in?

I was conisdering either structual engeneering or somthing mathmatical to get into a high paid job. But i just know its going to be boring as hell!

High voltage Sparkies, not that many about :D You dont work for switchgear per chance?

Work for the local distribution network operator. There is a massive programme of switchgear replacement going on at the moment - we're spending £400 million + this year just to keep the average asset age constant.
I'm also working part time on a R&D project to develop a new type of switchgear. It's really interesting. I'd definitely recommend a career in electricity networks to anyone. It's a job for life and the pay isn't too bad.

I'm an IT Consultant, its my first job since leaving uni and i'm loving it! only been here 1.5 month and i've been to stockholm twice (there now) and Helsinki and theres a high likelyhood i'm off to Amsterdam for a few months in a couple of weeks as a sys admin :D. My Job is mainly supporting banking systems (OPICS) but it can be allsorts. Think i've been quite lucky getting it, can see myself earning big money in 2-3 years.

He hasn't got an interesting job! Granted he earns a packet but he just sits at his radar scratching himself occasionally whilst shouting "avoid me" to all and sundry! ;)

Military Air Traffic's where it's at as you get a view like this:

Aye I agree with you matey good loot in that job. Just we use a Switchgear comp (RJV I think) for Mains Incommers for a Large pumping area in Loch lomond, Ross Priory Water pumps. If one of the two Mains Incommer lines goes we have to call in the high voltage guys to deal with it. Not that many of them about to deal with.

I'm a Student of Computer Science and have no idea what I want to do after I graduate. I'm guessing I'll have several jobs before I figure that one out.

I'm an electrical engineer. I work on electricity networks from 415V to 33kV - repairing faults, maintenance, reinforcing the system, construction of new assets etc. Lovin it.

Ooo nice, I’m doing electrical engineering at college atm. Perhaps I might be doing something similar in the future :p Just started my 1st assignment on the national grid.

But I’m currently working part time at pizza hut to help raise funds.

I'm a student of Chemical & Process Engineering.

I would like to become a Chemical & Process Engineer.

:p
