2nd-line IT support. Contracting so I get fancy wages for fairly basic work. Currently at a company that makes chips for mobile phones, broadband equipment and defence etc. I've been there over a year now.
High voltage Sparkies, not that many aboutYou dont work for switchgear per chance?
I'm an electrical engineer. I work on electricity networks from 415V to 33kV - repairing faults, maintenance, reinforcing the system, construction of new assets etc. Lovin it.
I'd definitely recommend a career in electricity networks to anyone. It's a job for life and the pay isn't too bad.
http://natscareers.co.uk/Scuzi youve got me very intrested in a job in air control of some sort. Id like a job that im not going to die of bordum... so obiously i took further maths as an A level. But i am highly compelled by money and earning 55k at 22 sounds like heaven for me
Sounds like a very intresting job as well. What is the training like and what sort of A levels do you need to get in? I gues lots of people apply and not many get in?
Work for the local distribution network operator. There is a massive programme of switchgear replacement going on at the moment - we're spending £400 million + this year just to keep the average asset age constant.
I'm also working part time on a R&D project to develop a new type of switchgear. It's really interesting. I'd definitely recommend a career in electricity networks to anyone. It's a job for life and the pay isn't too bad.
There's a limit of 3 stickies per subforum. The chances of an average, basic thread like this being stickied in a high-traffic forum like GD are about as high as those of dirtydog returning as a Commie.
