Bought a Dreamcast yesterday!

OMG. I lost so many hours playing Soul Calibur! Used to work at Game and we wasted so much time playing it on the big rear projection TV's. Used to have queues of people in at lunchtime watching us. Was great. Loved working there - just a shame the money was pants. (But opening the deliveries and grabbing the promo discs was a fringe benefit).

Virtua Tennis is ace too (pardon the pun)

Think my most played games where Soul Calibur and Skies of Arcadia.

Skies of Arcadia is one of the greatest console RPGs ever! The Gamecube version adds a lot of extra features but the Dreamcast version is still amazing, and feels more streamlined, hence I've actually got to the end this time. Who can't love a game featuring pirates, but even better they are sky pirates!!!

I'm waiting for my Dreamkey 3.0 to arrive so I can download Hamachou Island, so I can get Final Cupil.

It's just a shame it doesn't do VGA, although it still looks lovely through Scart.

My favourites were:

Soul Calibur (the graphics are brilliant even now)
Chu-Chu Rocket
Virtua Tennis
Virtua Athlete 2k (awesome :D)
Metropolis Street Racer

Am sure there's more, but that's off the top off my head :)

Resident Evil: Code Veronica
Power Stone 1&2
Shenmue
Virtua Tennis 2

Thats what I'd get. Ace console, shame the games dried up so quickly.

My favourites:

Crazy Taxi
Ferrari F355 Challenge
Sega Rally 2
Shenmue
Shenmue II
Virtua Tennis
House Of The Dead
Metropolis Street Racer
Quake 3 Arena
Re-Volt
Resident Evil
Sonic Adventure
Tony Hawk's Pro Skater / THPS2
Virtua Cop
Virtua Fighter
Virtua Tennis

(Nope, I didn't remember all of them, but there's this list of games :))

Why did it fail if the games were worth playing?

EA killed it IMO

There is quality games for it when you look back, but at the time it just seemed to lack something, I loved mine but Sega lost a lot of support from developers and publishers, plus off course Sony played a dirty game (something they cried about when MS invaded their PS3 launch he he).

Another vote for Jet Set Radio. Its a fantastic game. only game i fully finished on DC

also try Metropolis Street Racer and Crazy Taxi. great fun

You've got to get F355 challenge. Not because it's a great racing game (which it is, and it manages to still look nice) but for it's amazing 3 song cheese-rock sountrack!
Also, Toy Commander is always a good laugh.

To end the note. Get Rez.

Another game I enjoyed, might not be for everyone was Re-Volt :)

Chu Chu Rocket is a good call too, sure we got that free? can remember not actually playing the game too much but rather just chatting in the lobbies :D

Indeed. The DC was just starting to get into gear when the plug was pulled.

The games it had in comparison to the PS2 at the time were incredible.

Shenmue, Crazy Taxi, Power Stone, Soul Caliber and un-usually one of my favs Chu Chu Rocket..

Oh how I miss my DC..

There was another game that where you would go round an arena blowing crap into each other in cars... cant remember for the life of me what it was called but it was good, oh and that Toy one as well..
