Bush warns of World War III if Iran goes nuclear

US President George W. Bush said Wednesday that he had warned world leaders they must prevent Iran from getting nuclear weapons "if you're interested in avoiding World War III."

"We've got a leader in Iran who has announced that he wants to destroy Israel," Bush said at a White House press conference after Russia cautioned against military action against Tehran's supect atomic program.

"So I've told people that, if you're interested in avoiding World War III, it seems like you ought to be interested in preventing them from having the knowledge necessary to make a nuclear weapon," said Bush.

I highly doubt that Iran getting nukes will start WWIII. Nowhere near enough countries are involved.

if Iran attacked Israel then it could get very wide spread.
Maybe even WWIII

America would back Israel, most of the middle east at that point I would imagine would side with Iran. Russia I expect eventually would side with Israel.

Simple things can quickly go out of hand, especially if nukes are involved.

I just wished we had a military arm of the UN and the UN actually had the guts. Rather than America being the worlds police. We need a proper world police, untill then, I'm glad americas trying toa ct as one. I would much rather have an independent police under the UN with an army of it's own.

None of which leads me to think that military action will take anywhere other than the middle east itself, as nobody outside of the middle east will readily side with Iran in a conflict.

I think the fighting would remain in the middle east, but taht doesn't mean it wouldn't be a world war. I think most Islam countries would side with Iran, if an opportunity presented itself.

If it does come to blows, then I can seriously see it spreading to North Africa quite easily, and even possibly South East Asia!

When push comes to shove, I don't see any other muslim nation coming to Iran's aid if Iran was the country that initiated it.

don't you think if that happened, it would give the extremists in those countrys the platform needed to change policy/governments.

America needs a change of foreign policy, and it needs it as soon as possible - hopefully the next candidate will use that as a weapon to gain popularity. While it may not be the best reason for picking said candidate, it's certainly the best thing that can happen with regard to the OP imo.
