What programs are you guys using? The default Vista defrag problem doesn't give me any indication of progress, no results.

I've also seen Diskeeper recommended, but it's managed to kill a Windows install for me before (I still don't know how), so i'm loathed to suggest it to you.

It was a while ago though, probably been through many updates since. :)

I used Diskeeper with XP and it worked fine; well, I never had any problems. I haven't done anything other than leave Vista to get on with it and it doesn't seem to cause any problems. Mind, I don''t know how much faster the machine might go with a properly defragged disk - or maybe I have one with the Vista defragger.....

I've used them all on Vista and in the end I just use the Vista defragger set to defrag every day at 6am and I never have to worry about defragging again :)

Only if your doing a lot of file transfers on your PC, such as deleting and copying and downloading. But even then every day is a little over the top.

Does it serve an advantage degragging daily?
Btw mate - some excellent photography there!

It only defrags if the disk is fragmented and needs defragging (does analysis first) but I just let it do its thing so there's one less process to take off my mind :)

Wake up in the morning and I know my disks are all in optimum running order!

Thanks!
