XBox 360 Clock Reseting

Hi All,

Is this normal that the system clock resets to 22/11/05 after the power is turned off, couldn't understand where my orange box saves were going until I realised it bases save progress on the system clock.

System was not connected to the internet, as I don't use live.

I'll fix it by having it now always connected to my router, but is this normal?

After a quick Google, apparently it is quite normal. If you turn the power off, it resets the clock. It doesn't have a battery in it like a PC. Which I suppose you can understand if MS are trying to keep consoles as cheap as possible. 10 million £1 batteries is another £10 million cost to them.

i think if you keep it on standby (ie don't turn it off at the mains) then it'll retain the time.

Yeah was the same with Xbox, just leave it plugged in

If you connect to Xbox Live as soon as you turn it on, it adjusts the clocks for you.

I switch my stuff off at the wall everynight including the 360. I noticed this with my original Xbox at first which was a total pain because it didn't update over the internet but I haven't had a problem with my 360 as it seems to set the time from the internet every time I switch it on :confused:

I have however stopped switching it off recently because my Logitech Z5500's loose their settings overnight

I can unplug mine, take it to my mates house, plug it all back in and the time doesn't reset. Never has.

Doesn't it run off a capacitor for a short period of time?

I moved house in January and my Xbox360 was unplugged for a few days. I know it didn't reset then either though?
I know it was always one of the things that drove me mad about the original Xbox.

If it does only run for a short period of time it must be ~4 days or so?

No. We didn't get the net for ~7 weeks after we moved.
