Isnt there a like a 1gig limit per month for virgin internet or fair use policy meaning dl more than 1 gig or somit and u get 56k speeds. If so its gona be hard to download and play that many games per month.

~1gb per day, over that and it roughly gets halved I believe it is.

I like the idea, if I had time to play often I would consider doing this, it's like renting PC games :)

No VM (NTL really) are LAME compaired to TW-BY but the Traffic Shapping only slows you down from D 20meg to 5meg and U 768K to 256K if you go over 3GB limit from 4pm to 12am 4 hour slow period/penalty in this time zone (Top Tier).

You can MAX your connection from 12:01am till 3:59pm then be carefull for next 8 hours.

If you hit your 3GB limit at 4pm as the last 1Kbit of DATA comes down you are still Traffic Shaped for the next 4 hours.

I basically kill all traffic at 3.55pm, then resume at 4:15pm and if Im near my limit I kill at 11:55pm and resume at 12:05am and I skip it all.

Lets not turn this into another argument about traffic throttling.

Seems like a good deal for some people. Main down side being when you cancel you will not be able to play any of them, so it would still be cheaper to buy them.

The Virgin one is no cheaper than the normal one though - http://www.metaboli.co.uk

Who said anything about arguing, its my topic and I inputed to the fact its not 1GB per day.

I was merely saying we have enough topics which discuss the VM traffic throttling and we should use this thread to talk about the Metaboli gaming service, which is what you originally posted about. If you want your thread to go off topic then fine, I wont try and help again :)

For the record it is only 750MB and 350MB on the 4Mb and 2Mb packages respectively.

And thats why I added "Top Tier" in brackets as thats what I am on and all that matters to me.

I by no means like the current state of service with VM but I am on a lifetime retention but would rather be paying full for a servive like my old one pre VM.

Not a bad deal if you play regularly, although all the games i'd want are in the ultimate collection @ £12.95 a month, which is a bit too much for my liking since i only play casually.

But still, good concept.

Looking at the site, most of the good recent(ish) games like FEAR, Blood Money, STALKER etc are in the Ultimate pack only. So realistically it means you need to pay the £12.95 fee.

I reckon it's a good deal for people who have a lot of time for gaming (students and unemployed). They will be able to get full value out of it. Personally I don't really have enough time to dedicate to gaming to make it worthwhile - lately I'm struggling to complete more than 1 or 2 games a month.

edit: Actually I've changed my mind :) The cheaper £6.95 deal would be a nice way of playing older back-catalogue titles which are hard to find anymore. They've got some top quality older gamers there like Deus Ex and Freelancer.

heh great, just signed up to the 2MB Package as I could see nothing wrong with it, they said nothing about there being a 350mb cap each day... thats pathetic!

What happens if you download these games, then in a couple of months decide its not worth continuing the sub, do you still get to play them or do you have to delete them, do they stop working etc?

IIRC they stop working.
Otherwise people would just subscribe for one month and download everything.

Supose thats true, to be fair in the long run its probly cheaper to just buy a game you want then, rather than subbing and only getting the odd one...

The concept sounds excellent :)

Most of the good games on the £6.95 one I have tho :( the more expensive one has some good games, but again there's only 1 or 2 that I would want to download.

So for £12.95 you can download NWN2 + WH40K: DoW Anhology (3games) + Company Of Heroes + Test Drive Unlimited + Prince Of Persia 2 Thrones + Dirt + Stalker

Sounds too good to be true :)

Ah I thought there might be a catch somewhere

The game will stay on your hard drive, but you can't play it if you're no longer subscribed (whatever the reason). If you reactivate your account, you can launch all the games you've downloaded to your hard drive.

Can you only keep 1 game at a time or an you download as many as you like as long as you're within the daily download limit?

I'm on the 2mb connection atm so 350mb per day is just unacceptable. I mean most of the new titles takes up 4Gb+ each!

Besides I've already played most of these games before so it's not worth it for me.
