Nvidia or ATI...

Nope. :p

x1950 is better than the 2400's/2600's.
but for bioshock and ut3 the 2600xt is abit better...

True it has boosted its performance but the 1950 is hands down better for gaming as the card is just not powerful enough for proper dx10 features. If your basing it on bioshock then that doesn't count as it was pritty much just water features. Crysis will kill that card.
but as phatboy said his 1950 only just beating that in DX9 mode. if i did it in dx9 it meant beat it...

theres just to give u an idea of a 2600 performance in dx10... everything max, 1650x1050, single card....

Frames: 6814 - Time: 243037ms - Avg: 30.037 - Min: 21 - Max: 49

it isn't too bad...
That aint bad atall....my 1950 is only just beating that in DX9 mode on my system....i am still so tempted by 2 of these cards

so for vista users the hd2600 is a good choise
x1950 is better for xp users (ME)
that benchmark i did was in dx10 (vista).. but my point is if i did it in dx9 (xp) it should be higher fps and may beat the 1950...
the 1950 would be a safe bet tho...

but im not saying buy 2600 or 1950, thats for u to choose.. im just showing u my performance with a 2600...

On the previous thread you started we all already speced you up with a 1950. Geese

As i asked you earlyer you dont know what drivers or the clock speeds of both of them.

But also what clock speeds and overclocking has been done on either card. Though i dont think the 1950s really overclock very well. Not really fair comparing it to the fastest 2600 against the slowest 1950.

never thought of this b4 but bringing this argument back, exactly how much better is the x1950 to the 8600GT, will i visually see the differerence or is it just ones of these geeky test things that u look at and say ooooh look the x1950 is 1% better then the 8600GT ill happilly pay extra now?

I think the 1950 is quite a bit better. I think the 8600gt is ment to be a terrible card fro the price. unless drivers have improved it. Id stick to a 2600 or a 1950

A little bit off topic but still slightly relevent,

If a hypothetical person were to buy say an x1950pro now and ten months down the line buy a HD2xxx would the two cards work in crossfire?

Also, instead if they were to buy an 8800 now and a 9800 further down the line would these work in sli?

I'd heard that ati cards would work in crossfire even if they were different cards but have never been able to find information confirming this but I'm fairly certain sli wil only work with two of the same cards.

No they would not work.

1950 is the better card over an 8600. You have to clock the nuts off an 8600 to get good performance from it, whilst the 1950pro has good performance as standard :)

I'm sure I've already seen glowing reports from X19-- series owners on UT3 and CoD4. I think you will be fine.

Do you have, or plan on using Vista?

If so it might be worth getting a DX10 card for some extra eye candy in UT3?
