I like the fact that they nominated games, which aren’t even finished yet. I’ve never heard of any other award ceremonies doing this, why make an exception?

Are movie or music nominamtions based on trailers or small samples? No they are not! If this was the case then PS3 games would have swept the board.

Special mention: The Orange Box (PS3) - Why the hell is it not PC or XBox?

lol @ Wii sports wiener strategy and simulation.

I suppose, at a stretch, it is simulating sport, but it's no way 'strategy and simulation' as the gaming community at large know it.

Yeah, and it didn't win technical achievement

I would love to know how you judge "Use of Audio" as a catagory, well they all use audio, but I don't think they are that much different in how they use it?

Oh and is that not a competitor in the last award :p

Why wouldn't Wii Sports win Strategy and Simulation? It's a sports simulation game isn't it? and the best sports sim ... well, ever tbh.

Depends how you define simulation. This is just my opinion but if someone told me I was about to play a tennis simulation I would expect the most realistic experience possible. That is just me though and I can appreciate that it is still a simulation of the game of tennis at heart, I just feel that the word simulation means trying to get as close to the real life aspect of the game.

On the other side of it, I certainly wouldn't call it a strategy game.

As for best sports sim ever. Pro Evo :)

As I stated before, though, it's not 'strategy and simulation' as we've grown accustomed to it.

Personally, I believe Wii Sports deserves all the accolades you can throw at it, but did think this one a tad tenuous.

Dictionary.com defines "simulation" as:

1. imitation or enactment, as of something anticipated or in testing.
2. the act or process of pretending; feigning.
3. an assumption or imitation of a particular appearance or form; counterfeit; sham.
4. Psychiatry. a conscious attempt to feign some mental or physical disorder to escape punishment or to gain a desired objective.
5. the representation of the behavior or characteristics of one system through the use of another system, esp. a computer program designed for the purpose.

I certainly think Wii Sports fits into category 5. I read the category "Strategy and Simulation" as "Strategy games and Simulation games" i.e. they're too lazy to separate the categories out :P Hence why Forza Motorsport is in there too - it's not really a strat game either is it?
