I currently game on a cheap wireless keyboard/mouse combo made by Atek. I seem to be doing alright with it but i want to upgrade.

Ive done a lot of reading and understand that wired is better than wireless for gaming. Is is really that much better? I would prefer wireless as i have limited deskspace so 2 less wires on my desk would help quite a lot!

Is it more important to have the mouse/keyboard wired compared to the other?

Your thoughts on wired/wireless setup?

Does this look like a good option? > http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=KB-082-LG

I was considering getting one of these myself. I currently use a Logitech G5 and I have never found the need to stick the DPI up to 2000 from my normal setting of 800, its just totally unnecessary IMO. I think the 800 DPI offered by the MX Revolution would be more than sufficient for all but the most discerning of gamers. The supposed "difference" in performance between wireless and wired mice may have been an issue years ago but I doubt its a problem nowadays. I use a wireless keyboard and I'm very happy with it - the batteries last for absolutely ages - wireless is definitely the way to go IMO. I would definitely recommend both keyboard and mouse are wireless. I can use my keyboard from my bed but obviously not the wired G5, but the ability to use both would be pretty cool.

Cool, thanks for that. I now have the courage to buy that wireless mouse. :D The best mice ive used is a standard MS wired mouse so anything better than that is going to feel great!

Just need to find a nice wireless keyboard now. Looks like theres not many 'gaming' keyboard around. Might have to get a regular keyboard.

go for a G5. Its wired. hope that helps.

Also for a keyboard get a G15

If you get on with microsoft mice, thier wireless intellimouse will be perfect for you,

Theres a few versions available, think mines version 2.0, ive had it for a long time and would reccomend to anyone.
I belive there are newer versions. so you dont need to spend much if you dont want to.

I would reccomend this:http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=KB-071-MS&tool=3

Its not state of the art or anything but you really cant go wrong.

OOOPS! didnt see your budget was higher, maybe these two:

I like the look of that keyboard.. is it deffo wireliess? Im going to be getting the Logitech MX revoloution mouse.......

I use the G15 and the G5. Love both of these. I usually use the DPI setting of 800, but can adjust depending on the weapon ingame. I do only use 6 of the macro buttons, and these are for Teamspeak. (Mute, volume etc)

Instead of the G15 keyboard i would recommend the G11, it's exactly the same but without the screen at the top (which i consider useless) and costs quite a bit less.

i use a logitech G11, because the screen...well, i just couldn't justify the extra cost.

and for a mouse i use the logitech MX revolution, which is wireless, but i seem to do as well/better then i have done with a wired mouse, it has to be said though, if you want to game, and be wireless be prepared to pay a good amount to do it well, my mouse cost me £55

I dont notice much of a difference between wireless and wired keyboard but when it comes to the mouse I really cannot stand using the wireless, I notice the input delay straight away and its rather annoying. Maybe the mouse is more of a precision tool so the delay sticks out more than the keyboard.

I am currently using the Razer Deathadder mouse and Microsoft Reclusa keyboard and I can say the Deathadder is the best mouse I ever used.

i'd advise anyone currently looking at the G15 to wait for the revised version:

looks MUCH nicer, and i will probably pick it up on release

edit: i know it's probably pointless mentioning it here, but anyone in the know know if OcUK will be selling these/or if they already are and just haven't updated the G15 page?

Don't like it, ugly orange instead of nice blue.

Ontopic:
I'm happy with a cheap generic wireless mouse, never a problem in fps games.
For keyboard I personally went for the g11 over the saitek because the media keys were a must for me but I didn't need an lcd at all like on the G15 as I already had 2 monitors...
Imo either get the saitek eclipse, would also consume less of your valuable desk space or forget about expensive keyboards and just get a basic one.
