anyone had this issue
played the demo on xp, cant load it on vista64 because it says there is a 64bit update required, but the update keeps saying it is'nt required on this system????

Nice pink text in your sig lol.
Tbh I cant even get the game to run on the 64bit exe, it hangs most of the time so I just stick to the 32bit one.

Hmmm thats strange... I had the problem where it wouldnt install the Sounds~1.cab file in Vista x64... Where did you download the crysis sp demo from?

just finished the demo on vista 64, it did required me to download a vista update which i did but didnt give me any problems in running the .exe though

Is there any performance or visual increases between the 64bit and 32bit versions of the launcher?

take this back, went to the 64bit exe file and it ran fine, and i take back what i said in another thread, which was i was'nt impressed which was mainly to do with its poor fps in win xp, on win vista 64 (which i normally deride) it runs magnificently
looking forward to the full game on vista64

my experience on this issue

Did not try the 32bit version. Only foreseeable difference would be the landscape distance, the landscape would be more deeper in the 64bit version then the 32 bit, just like in far cry or better textures.

Although after updating to the beta 169 drivers i had the same problem, briefly after launching the game it stops responding.

The 32 bit version of game works with 169 beta but as i suspected the draw distance is reduced and the difference is very noticeable.

Cant call it a hotifx but if you are using the 169 beta, uninstall them and try the 163.71 drivers. I got the 64bit version to work with these. The game didnt hanged once but performance issues are another matter, at least you get to play it.

To improve performance, use the tweak of alt tab and setting the crysis.exe to high in processes. I got a huge jump in fps.

Cool, forgot to try that. Anyhow, just played the demo on very high (no AA)at 1680x1050 with not many hiccups. Kinda feeling good since the performance should be better if the final game is released with multicore support. May be that 9800Gtx "need it now" may not be that big a deal.
