Right then chaps, I'm looking for a motor for Enduro Rallying (aswell as road rallying). My current road rally car is not suitable as it's been modified to much.

The basic rules are as follows -
A petrol engine no bigger than 1400cc NA. No tuning of the engine, gearbox, diff and brakes must all be as standard. A better air filter and exhaust may be fitted, also the ecu can be chipped/remapped, suspension may be uprated.

I'm thinking either a 206 XSI *90bhp or a Clio extreme *98bhp.

Anyone here had or have either of these two? I basically need the quickest standard car I can get, also something which will respond nicely to a ecu chip/remap. I have driven a 206 1.6 XSI and the handling was ok, discs on rear, good brakes etc... How does the clio compare?

Didn't think about the nova sport tbh, twin 40's as standard too, but like you sau, not many around. 106 XSI same motor as the 206 I would presume, don't really like them though, handling isn't amazing either.

Edit... Everyone is using everything really but while i'm at it I may aswell get the quickest base car I can.

Don't like the handling of what, the 106 or 206?

The 106 would run rings around the 206.
Have driven a 106 and I preferred the 206, also the 106 is all rather cramped for someone my size, not to mention the build quality and strength of a sardine tin.

Why is someone building a rally car giving a stuff about build quality?

Honestly, you get the 106 becuase it's a better handling car and quicker. You do not get the 206 becuase it has 'better build quality' becuase nobody gives a stuff about soft touch plastics on a road rally. Not that the 206 has either any build quality nor soft touch plastics but you get my point.

The build quality was referring to the whole thing, not the plastics inside? Hit anything (trust me ive seen a few) in a 106 and the goddamn things just crumple into nothing. Also, I did mention the cramped position which is important when you spend 2 or 3 days at a time in the thing.
