Looking to get a new car near the end of the year start of next so looking for ideas.
I'l have about 4, 4.5k to spend on a car but im unsure of what to go for so the only limitations il put on are:
I am 21 0ncb dd11 area and the car must be 1999 or newer.
I have been quoted £1200 tpft for a bmw318 so looking for something cheaper but as fast as i can get lol.
cheers people

Isn't the idea of a sleeper to look as slow as possible? like say a nissan note? that was just an example i wouldn't seriously expect u to buy that.

Want some FWD fun?

Buy a standard 1999 Saab 9-3 for peanuts

Drop a grand on the engine should see you 250bhp easily.

Insurance would be fine on it as well.

But it would be crap, so don't bother with that idea. Buy something thats decent to start with and then you wont have to drop a grand on it, and if you do drop a grand on it, you'll have something brilliant rather than something average.

V6 Mondeo perhaps?

why would it? in a straight line with decent boost control that would be hot off the line.

Plus he didn't say he wanted to go around corners :p

V6 Mondeo perhaps?

agree there, was surprised at how fast Toms was.

V6 Mondeo with 0 ncb? - he's already had a quote of £1200 tpft for a 318i (thats a sleeper, it'll send him to sleep nicely!) I'd love to see his quote for a V6 Mondeo!

A sleeper is something like an e34 M5 with a 518i badge on the bootlid tbh.
I advise the OP wakes up and stops dreaming of sleepers, perhaps in a couple of years (& some NCB!) he may get something like, but, I don't think he's going to get anything too interesting at the moment that isn't going to cost him half his budget in insurance!

Rover 620Ti? 4 pot 2l petrol turbo, and 197bhp. Apparently, though, it takes quite a bit of money to get a lot more bhp out of it...

I think a nissan pulsar radiator, T28 turbo from a pulsar or 200sx would set you back 250/300 quid.

1.2 Corsa with a 2.0XE engine on throttle boddies.

Best part of 190BHP, standing 1/4 in about 13.5 seconds, 0-60 in 5, and top out at around 150MPH in somthing that looks pants.

Total cost of car + conversion about 3Kish then spend the remainder on insurance.

This is my bro's old car. He converted it himself one weekend. Standard 2.0L engine with full interior and the 1.2 peashooter exhaust. Got a 14.7 sec 1/4 at Shakespear race way. Total cost of this car including conversion was £800.

I know a few people who moan about this suggestion but IMHO its quite valid and pretty much as sleeperish as you can get.

Flame suit on for all those Vauxhall haters :p

VW Bora 1.8T. Not FAST, but 150 or 180bhp in stock form, as anonymous as you like and it can come as a horrible surprise to other drivers.....at least mine did to that bloke in a Fiesta ST the other day, mwoohaha.

£400 remap will give you 200bhp+ depending on the age/turbo/throttle control system.

The OP could get a 2001-2002 Seat Toledo V5 for that money. A small V5 badge and unique alloys are the only things that make it different from the 1.4
