Sorry for the long post, having a mare here.:(

Has anyone ever used rentokill before?

We have an infestation of flies in our new house. We need this sorted ASAP.

The entire loft is full of flies it's absolutely disgusting!!

When we moved in there were LIVE flies in the frames of all the windows when I opened them and in all the creases of the curtains when I closed them :(. I hoovered them all up and thought that would be the end of it. Then today we woke up to find 6 or 7 flies buzzing around in each room upstairs.

Having opened up the loft to try and put some boards down to make it a usable space I was hit in the face with a few more flies. On turning on the light I noticed the entire roof is plastered in flies!!

I phoned up the local pest control guys and they said they could come out and fumigate the loft. They will kill all the flies, but they wont clean up the mess. So I'll have a loft full of insulation and dead flies!! **** that for £50 tbh.

I figured for the £50 he wants to charge for making a mess, I may aswell buy the cannister and smoke out the mofo's myself if I have to clean it up anyways.

But saying that, I don't fancy trying to negotiate a loft I've never been in carrying a hoover and trying not to go through the roof!!

So...would rentokil come and do the job but clean up the mess?? I want to be free of this vile infestation and make sure my baby boy doesn't have to sleep under a fly net anymore!

How the hell are they getting down from the loft in the first place!

Really upset by this tbh, we have just moved in and are having a really crap time so far :(

Can anyone recommend rentokil? Would it be expensive? Would they come the same day? Has anyone ever had this problem before? Where can I buy a cannister if rentokil won't tidy up either? Can anyone recommend a company who will clear up aswell as kill the flies?

/rant!

Cheers,

G

erm lol at the thread title, I'm assuming they are related anyways but I mean infestation.

Could a passing mod correct my spelling please lol

Cheers,

in all seriousness there might be a dead something in your loft which will be the source of these flies :) have a good nosey (maybe previous owners have left you a "present"

or the previous tenants bit on the side that he and his wife murdered after she bore them the child they so desperately craved, (happy spikes)

I thought there might be something dead in there too tbh, I had a look up there and couldnt see anything apart from an old pram and about a million flies, but I wasn't hanging about! I have a real phobia about buzzing insects so cacked it and closed the hatch double quick!

Hence wanting to call in professionals.

loads of flies this time of year, get a couple of cans of insectiside. Hotbox the room and come back the next day with a vacuum cleaner. May have to be repeated but its a lot cheaper

rats are very often found in lofts a dead one could be the answer and is just as likley as a dead bird

Leave the gas on, close all but one downstairs window. Vacate the premises and chuck in a single match after an hour of two. Problem solved.

I stayed in a relatives farm house a couple of years ago, at this time of year. Flies just kept randomly appearing from everywhere in our room, I couldn't swat them fast enough! Is your property old/damp? That seemed to be part of the problem I experienced, but maybe this doesn't apply here.

Built in 2004. No damp either.

Need to find someone who can come out today AND clear up the mess or I'm off to find some cannisters.

Sorry for the long post, having a mare here...

why don't you just cover the floor of the loft with some plastic sheeting, or at a pinch, tape some black bags together, then, when he's finished fumigating and it's safe to go up you can just gather the sheet up and wang it in the wheely bin.
