Not that I'm in a position to offer medical advice since I'm no dentist and it's against the rules but I'd say you're in MAJOR TROUBLE when they come out. OMGFFS, I'd RUN. The PAIN.
;)

I may get really lucky, I was missing 1 or 2 adult teeth they never formed, still has to had some extracted before my brace (stupid large teeth)

I'm hoping I'm special and only have 1 wisdom tooth :D

I sympathise mate

I HATE dentists, a fear of them
I had to have a tooth removed
they promised it would be quick and painless

7 injections, 6 stitches and an hour and a half in that chair, praying to die

Definitely wouldnt drink any alcohol until its stopped bleeding and stopped bleeding for a while. Alcohol thins the blood so will just make it take longer to repair the hole.

My wisdom teeth are getting close to needing to be extracted. Really not looking forward to it.

I had loads of teeth removed when I had braces and I didn't like having a numb face and what felt like a broken jaw. :(

Just reading this post reminds me of when I had teeth removed to make room.

It really is not a nice thing to have done, the anaesthetic injection is like being stung in the gum. The taking out part is also unpleasant with your head wrenched around. And then you have a dead/tingling mouth for the rest of the day, and can't eat until the anaesthetic wears off for fear of biting your lip.

To top it off, having curry with rice the following week, and rice getting all caught up in the gap! Ugh!

Keep a brave face and be glad it only happens once, (unless your in need of orthodontic treatment).

I've had it done, it wasn't that bad. Hurt more before they took it out. Came out quite easily and was over in a few seconds.

You got off lightly. It took 15 minutes of wrenching and twisting with various sizes of pliers to get just one of my wisdom teeth out (The other was another 10 minutes). I wonder how many people have felt their jaw bone flex under load? Not a nice experience. After the first five minutes i literally had tears streaming down my face just through the trauma (I couldnt actually feel any pain).

Turns out i actually have 4 more teeth than most (or something) and they were above my wisdom teeth pinning them in.

:(. I've had all of my wisdom teeth out (silly me). I can't stand the bleeding. Just the taste of blood and 'healing' for 2-3 days makes me so angry and grumpy :(. All I can suggest is to stay away from warm foods for a few days, don't disrupt the blood clot in the socket, don't smoke too much ('dry socket' can be a problem), stay off the booze, stay away from blood thinners etc, and just stay warm and as happy as you can be :(.

Good luck dude!.

im sure my dentist used a simple screwdriver and pliers to remove my bad tooth (fyi : when blackpool rock sucks out a filling, its probably worth getting it looked at)
was quite traumatic :'(

god knows what ill do if i never need a wisdom tooth took out , last time i got a normal tooth took out (to make space for wisdom tooth :/) the dentist was basically kneeling on my chest and wrestling my tooth

What annoys me, is that most dentists dont like to admit that the anesthetic doesn't always work.. when I last had to have an extraction done (and unfortunately I need another but refuse to go to the butchers) after 4 injections, I could still feel my face.. Dentist wouldn't believe me.. spoke to a private one, who would have charged me way more than I could afford, and his words.. "oh, it's quite common"

Dentistry is one place where our health service really has no clue at all.

I think, at the moment, I have 3 'half' teeth (roots remain, crown long gone), dentist would want to remove them, I point out.. looks bad.. doesn't hurt.. leave alone.

course, I need some others filling, and that would be bad enough.. I really just don't like dentists.

I need to save me some money, and pay for them to put me under for a few hours, fix it all at once, and be done with it..

I had all four out at once. They gave me rohypnol instead of a general anaesthetic. Was quite a strange experience but I was back at work the next day, despite having part of my jaw sawn away to get the tooth out.

Just whack a load of frozen peas on the jaw and youll be fine.

I had all four out. If you are given the option go for the local rather than the general, they are much more careful with you if you are awake so the recovery time is quicker. I was back in work the next day.

Mine are all lying on their side, and are going to impact my back teeth, which are normal.

Im going to have to have them all removed :( Just a matter of time!!

Bad luck chap! It can only get better from now :)

I had a nasty problem with an impacted wisdom tooth. Wound up getting an infection and the pain was unbelievable :(. Only had three come through, no idea what happened to the fourth.
I was terrified of going to the dental hospital and getting them removed but they did such a great job that i barely felt a thing, even when they were yanking to pull them and jerking my head around. The sedatives they used were superb, just felt comfortably drunk.
