Ok, Basically, I have around £1500-£2000 to spend on a first car for myself, baring in mind that this has to include insurance.. I know, thats probably not feasable but I really want my own car, and am not sharing a C2 with my parents. I cant afford the insurance on the mazda 323. And Im not using the rusty N reg ford azura that my sister uses.. I think this might be possible if i spend £500 on a car and £1000 or something on the insurance.

I take it I wont be able to afford a 1.4? Or will i... the cars ive been looking at are all the usual ones, 106, clio (old or new), fiesta (curved model maybe), saxo (wanna keep my legs)..

Any ideas people?? Cheers :)

Fiesta 1.25 Zetec.

or

306 1.9 DTurbo.

"Turbo" does not necessarily mean "rocketship" especially when combined with the word "Diesel"

Some TD owners would have you believe otherwise of course!

Shush, we get just over a squillion bhp out of ours and it still gives 45mpg :p

Got a pair of 306s here, one dturbo, one non-turbo. awesome cars for mpg and they don't look as a dated as the ford offerings.

And they're obscenely cheap to buy too.

Dozens and Dozens of cars under a grand on autotrader. Look for a Mondeo / 406/ type car for cheap insurance and reasonable price.

I wanted a mondy originally (mainly due to Fox's pimping 24/7 at the time) but the £2200 insurance quote made baby jesus cry.
