Ingredients: Beef 10%,

Ok I'm not reading any further. The rest is going to be unspecified abattoir clippings and sawdust.

Having said that they are quite nice when you get used to the smell and texture.

Anyone else eaten anything grim lately? :D

arent they made like sausages? the other 90% is rusk and other.... farmyard seed stuff?

You would probably find most meat balls in tins (cheap ones) will contain a high ammount of soya meat, iirc. Yeah they have real meat in them not a lot but still have some. Damn tasty though :)

if you ever, ever buy hotdog sausages

Look at the label
and NEVER buy them if the ingredients say Chicken (Mechanically Seperated)

A pack of dried fruit a colleague brought into work was only 50% fruit. Tasted ok mind...

We must always remember that the udders, tails, eyelids, nostrils and genitals of cows are all 100% beef!

10% is shocking though. Mmmmmm, you can really taste the gristle. :D

Two good simple meatball recipes are:

Beef mince
Softened onion
garlic (couple of cloves softened with the onions)
breadcrumbs
egg for binding
Dash of lee and perrins
salt and pepper

or

Pork mince
apple
softened onions
breadcrumbs
egg for binding

or a final one

pork mince
red pepper
onions
breadcrumbs
egg

Basically very much the same as making burgers but you are aiming more for a smooth paste than the texture you get with burgers. So a bit longer in the food processor works a treat.
