That screenie really makes me want to get back into GW, this is not a good thing :(

Look, i'm not just posting to be Devil's Advocate... but all you people posting and telling that guy to get a life and go outside.. who the hell do you think you are? Do you even know him? Have you got any idea who he is or anything about him? Seriously. Consider for a second a multitude of reasons why someone might be housebound. Perhaps he has a long term sickness like ME or CFS which prevents him from doing excercise for any period of time. Perhaps he is quite severely disabled and playing games and internet are his only real escape into the outside world? Only a few weeks ago a guy posted in GD asking for a 5k spec so that him and his disabled wife would play games as it was their only form of entertainment.

And you know, even if he is a perfectly healthy and capable person, what makes you high and mighty enough to tell people how to live their lives? Who are you to say what is right and what is wrong when it comes to living? At the end of the day, this lad is doing what he loves.. and you fault him for that? just because what he loves isn't good in your eyes does not mean he is wasting his life. Frankly i applaud him. I wish i could find something i loved and dedicate myself to it, whatever it is.

If you think sitting in an office from 9 - 5 with boring salty faced people and a stupid suit with a ridiculous tie (wtf even are ties.. they're just bits of material that hang... whats the point) then coming home, eating dinner and being too tired to do much else is a life, then good for you. Go do it. Or perhaps you'd enjoy stacking shelves in a warehouse for 8 hours a day. Whatever. The kid is obviously in a position where he has no commitments, and he is enjoying it. leave him alone.

[/touched nerve]

(for the record, i work in an office. i have a tie. yes, i hate the tie. If i didn't work in an office or have commitments, i dont think i would spend all day playing games. I would probably spend all day diving or sea fishing. Some people dont understand that either, but tbh, it's nothign to do with them)

Thought I better post to this thread. I work in an office and hate ties. I have found tho that our customers are tending to wear ties less. We had a top guy over from Bacardi not long ago and in the meeting we all had our ties on the bacardi guys had open neck shirts and were a lot more casual. Ban ties thats what I say!

I love playing PC games. I ve a big pile of games to start but I can't due to a trapped nerve in my spine at L4-L5. My whole day is spent on drugs laying flat on my back. I havnt worked in 4 months and am still awaiting a date for my operation. It's so frustrating. I have put load of weight on, did a half hearted attempt at suicide when the pain got too much to bare. I got drunk took a load of painkillers then lockd myself in the garage sprawled over the motorbike with the engine running. I was crying my eyes out feeling sorry for myself whilst trying to fall asleep. I ended up getting out of the garage throwing up with a stinking headache.

Due to the trapped nerve I have all this spare time but can't do anything with it. Even typing on my laptop kills my right shoulder in the laid down position.

I guess what i'm trying to say is everone to there own. I am looking forward to be able to game again. In fact thats half owhat is keeping me going. I prob won't be able to play sport again so I guess PC'ing will be my pain past time apart from hill walking (or at type of walking will be better than the zero life I have at the moment). I guess if someone tells me to get a life and stop playing on the PC I'll think to myself what the hell do they know about me or my circumstances and what gives them the right to critise someone they know nothing about.

When did you get this trapped nerve? You have an awsome gaming rig.

When did you get this trapped nerve? You have an awsome gaming rig.

Hi willhub,

It started a Oct 06. It was only a slight sensation at the side of my left lower leg.

By March 07 it was getting pretty uncomfortable walking when I extended the leg forward. The doctor said I probably had some scaring on the nerve and gave me 2 weeks of anti imflammatory painkillers.

I went back in April as it was starting to trap all the time. The doctor wrote me a letter to hospital.

Since then I had a full course of physio that litterly left me crippled.

I left work in July as I couldnt sit down for horrific pains down leg. Since then it has got worse. I cant walk or im nearly crying in pain, I cant sit upright as I can feel the nerve grinding. I get pins and needles all down the leg and into the big toe.

I paid for an MRI scan privately to speed things up. To cut a long story short I'm waiting for my operation date from the hospital. There is supposedly a backlog. The PALS woman phoned me last week to say I was classed as urgent and unnofficially she said I should expect to be operated on within 2 weeks. A week later and I still havn't heard anything.

The waiting is so frustrating. I hope I will be sorted and recovered for Christmas but as the weeks go by i'm starting to doubt it.

BTW thanks for comments on the rig. I love it to bits. It still runs everything smoothly altho I guess Crysis will bring it to its knees.

Take care
