Lo all,

I stumbled across this fine piece of graffiti in Cardiff last weekend. I like the fact that it's got a message rather than just being a tag or usual graffiti art, it's all getting a bit cliché for my liking.

So my question to you:

If you were to do something similar what would you write? One sentence or phrase that sums up your beliefs or ideas about the world around us.

You seek escape from pain. We seek the achievement of happiness. You exist for the sake of avoiding punishment. We exist for the sake of earning rewards. Threats will not make us function; fear is not our incentive. It is not death that we wish to avoid, but life that we wish to live.

There used to be some graffiti on a wall near South Gosforth Metro station that said "Bored Teenagers" in 3' high letters.

At least they were self aware.

"You seek escape from pain. We seek the achievement of happiness. You exist for the sake of avoiding punishment. We exist for the sake of earning rewards. Threats will not make us function; fear is not our incentive. It is not death that we wish to avoid, but life that we wish to live."

Mmm I like that. Lots.

My favourite quote comes from The Partners; a Graphic Design firm in London. It was used as a screen saver when I went to visit them in January. It read:

"If you think you have everything under control, you're not going fast enough".

I'd have to take a leaf out of Dan Le Sac and Scroobius Pip's book:

"Thou shalt not judge a book by it's cover, Thou shalt not judge Lethal Weapon by Danny Glover."

:D

On the garvaghy road in portadown in red block capitals, with the paint running to look almost bloodlike, and maybe about 3 foot tall it says, "All you need is love". I think that's the best.
