Hairdresser sued for refusing to hire Muslim woman in a headscarf

Miss Noah, who has been rejected for 25 different hairdressing jobs after interviews, is suing Miss Desrosiers for more than £15,000 for injury to her feelings plus an unspecified sum for lost earnings.

Miss Desrosier said: "When a potential client walks past on the street, they look into a salon at the stylists to get an impression of what haircut they are going to get there.

"The image I have built my salon on is very urban, funky, punky. That is the look I am going for.

"If an employee were wearing a baseball cap or cowboy hat I would ask them to remove it at work.

Generally hairdressers are porper extroverts.....so generally have whacky hairstyles to show off...tell her to **** off and get another job somewhere else. It's not her right to get that job and fairplay to the owner. Maybe she has been rejected 25 times because of the scarf....maybe she can see her errors.
 
Slightly OT I know but there is an article linked on the page in the OP called 'what not to bare' about showing boobs before the watershed. The Daily Mail is duly outraged by giving the reader screen-caps of said outrageous event.

*Note previously mentioned boobs are of old women, I warn ye.
 
pfft what i stupid thing to get sued over surely the hairdresser owner can pick and choose who the hell she wants no matter what colour/religion/sex/head wear the potential candidates are/have :rolleyes:

i agree, if u own a business it's upto you who your staff are
 
my boss asks for a passport photo with any application/CV if they dont give him one he doesnt even consider them! and if he doesnt like the look of the person he wont consider them either!
dont know why, works for him anyway
 
Next her limbless husband will be refused a job as a fine art restorer, but he can sue on grounds that he got his arms blown off in a bomb he set off for allah etc :rolleyes:

this headscarf thing is getting a bit stupid now though - to be honest, I'm not really sure where I stand on it - but I'm even more unsure of why a headscarf bothers people so much. are we really that xenophobic?
