Hi,

I was just wondering as to if any of you have any experience with using the thermal Nike Pro/Under Armor vests for keeping you warm. If so what were your opinions on them and if they are worth the money?

Cheers in advance!

:)

I was thinking about this last night after training in freezing temperatures.

I currently use an old, skin-tight Kappa shirt that I acquired from one of my previous teams. This is getting a bit long in the tooth now, besides having someone else's name and number on the back, so I'm looking for a replacement.

I've been looking at the Canterbury range, I'll probably go and try some on on the weekend.

Hi,

Yeh I was playing quite a bit of 5-a-side last year in some nasty tempatures, and looks like i'll be playing even more this year. It just got me thinking whether its all just a gimick or if it does help at all.

:)

I wear the Nike Pro vests when I play and they are very good. When I got mine the bloke showed me the large one and I had to remind him it was large mans not large boys, but he assured me it was for men.

They are really small and tight, and after playing it is nye on impossible to get the bugger off without a major struggle or some assistance. Would definitely recommend them though.

The Nike Pro are around £18 I believe and I think the Under Armour ones are more expensive, but you can get those with a roll neck style so to keep your neck warm as well. Mostly used by keepers I believe.

They are a lot better than wearing just a t-shirt underneath.

I use the Canterbury Armourfit one's for golfing in, i can get away with wearing one of those with a polo shirt when all the rest of the guys are wrapped up in their big jumpers over their shirts. Used them through the summer also as they are very good for absorbing any sweat so you don't get that clingy cold feeling from a sweaty shirt. They take a bit of getting used to due to how tight they feel, but once used to that they are a great bit of kit.

Under Armour is awesome gear!! It's cool that it is starting to get into the stores over there.
I have quite a few UnderAmour 'heat gear' for training and love them. The 'cool gear' really does help too. It gets to be about -15 over here in winter and still head out running sometimes brrrrrr. Make sure you get what you want as they offer many different styles and variations. Not sure how much they cost over there but here seems pretty reasonable.
The skin tight gear is cool although a little odd when trying it on for the first time, you soon get used to it and end up not knowing your wearing it.
I have one of those Nike iPod shirts (the skin tight one which the ipod connects into) and thats a pretty neat little shirt I wear snowboarding or something as a base layer.

I tell you what is brilliant for under clothing, rowing lycra. Long sleeve or short sleeved "tech-tops" you can get (eg from godfrey.co.uk) are brilliant for keeping you warm.

Did you get the ones with the roll neck style collar?

Yeh It's got a roll neck. Looks quite nice, got a white one as most the tops I play in are quite light coloured. Looking forward to trying it out, know it will be weird the first few times but shall be interesting since i've only heard good things about them.

:)

Bought a longsleeve Canterbury Armourfit Cold top on Saturday to use for football.

Feels wierd when you first put it on - I've never worn anything so tight! After a while you don't notice and it seems to do them job really well.
