The Witcher-Official Thread

Ive had it since the day it came out and im still on act2! Just havnt had the time to play it, also im putting it off by playing Exile until i (hopefully) get my 8800GT KO on Friday.
Still get excited when i fire the game up.
 
Installed this last night.
Finished the "Training" mission.
Amazing so far, it looks awesome and runs really well (so far), at 1280x1024, all settings on high etc. even on my mediocre rig

AMD 4200+ X2
x1950 Pro 512MB
2GB 533 DDR2

I am assuming you get more than 3 Attacks in a combo as you level up?
 
Well, I'll join the ranks - just got it yesterday. I'm not very far yet, but quite impressed already. Definately a lads game though, heh. So much violence and cleavage. ;)
 
Just got my pc back running, just had a witcher session and got to act3:)

Got a nice sword off salamandra scum ;)

Bit stuck with the potion making tho, where do you get the stuff from? Is is from the herbs? I cant seem to find the books that learns me the names of the herbs either.

Oh btw folks PCG UK has reviewed the Witcher. They've gave it 67% Quite frankly you have to read the review yourself to believe some of the stuff the reviewer comes up with as criticism....really.
 
yea - 67%, can't believe it either, esp in that one of the closing comments was:

it's not as fun as Two Worlds!

That buggy, underwhelming piece of carp!! WTF?!

That said they did make one point which I agree with. They state that you upgrade your abilities without knowing what the game is going to throw at you. For instance - I upgrade my silver fast and steel strong styles - and both in group. Then the game throws enemies that require steel fast and silver strong, to effectively dispatch them. Bit annoying as I have taken to just upgrading all styles for both steel and silver at the same pace, along with the strength, endurance et al attributes. I haven't bothered upgrading any of the signs.

Seems like specialisation would not suit this game.

That said - 67%?!?!?!?!!?:eek:
 
Well ive played about 4 hours so far and think its a great game.

Last time I bought a great gaming magazine was the commodore Format. Everything after that wa rubbish
 
You'll get the silver sword. It's impossible to not get it, so don't worry.

Just finished - easily the best RPG I've played since KotOR. It's got a few issues though - disjointed story at some points, a few game-stopping bugs...all in all though definitely a thumbs up! :D
 
You get given the silver sword at the start of act 2 just dont drop it like i did :)

You might be on the wrong combat mode if you cant hit something, ie try strong or fast. If multiple enimies try group attack.

And ohhh yeaaa just gave shani a seing to ;)

Edit - Well i'm totally stuck now dont know what else to do in act 3?

Did the quest in the sewers, killed the wolf man, now what?

Got the quest all the kings men, after speaking to the king it says i should not medle with king, quest points to me kalkestine i think but nothing happens there.

Other quest i can see is to find yaevinn and elves or sigfreed and convince them, dont know where they are tho :(
