The Armando Iannucci Shows (essential essential essential watch these)
Adam & Joe (also essential)
Jam (weeeird but good)
Some of Chris Morris's audio stuff: On the Hour, Blue Jam, Why Bother?, etc. (hilarious)
People Like Us (pioneering mockumentary with Chris Langham, ace)
Curb Your Enthusiasm (deadpan fantasticness, one of only two good recent US comedies)
Big Train (hilarious sketch show, particularly the first series)
Time Trumpet (fantastic satire from Armando "sexy genius" Iannucci)

this guy is right

Not realy a comedy but I do find The Soprano's rib crackingly hilarious at times!!

Married with Children up there, also love King of the Hill!!

Watch coupling :) it's very funny, may not be to your taste, but damn the situations the welsh character jeff gets into is pure comedy genius

Shadime. ;)

Another vote for Bill Hicks here, thought provoking intelligent stand up.

For a living stand up I'd recommend David Cross who has probably continued Hicks style and content to a certain extent (and yes, he plays Tobias in Arrested Development! :D )

And as you haven't seen Spaced before Carzy, shame on you! :p

I got three pages into this thread wondering why nobody had mentioned this.
The title put me off for ages, but having watched a few episodes I realised what I'd missed!
It's one of the few comedies that really has made me laugh out loud.

OP said monkey dust... One of the most hilarious messed up TV shows/cartoons I have had the pleasure of watching.. pure entertainment.

I also quite like "Drawn together" just cos its absoloutley bottom of the barrel sick, twisted, perverted and hilarious.

Check it out if you can.

Another vote for Curb Your Enthusiasm and Big Train here. (season 2 of BT is probably marginally better!)

And i don't think "The I.T Crowd" has been mentioned. Same writer as Big Train/Father Ted, first season is out on DVD this month i think, a couple of the (6) episodes are pure gold.

Plus its got Richard Ayoade and Chris Morris, what more do you need?

As somebody mentioned above, if you haven't seen Jam before, it looks right up your street.

Also check out "Marion and Geoff" with Rob Brydon, and maybe ''Nighty Night'. The Royle Family is a must watch too, it's a precursor to The Office in many ways.

Partridge was a precursor to the royal family his radio stuff is brilliant it's a must have for the car.

I also think richard medeley from Rich and Judy based himself on partridge.

Also the gervais podcasts are very funny again great for the car on the way into work.

If you liked Garth Marenghi then Man to Man with Dean Lerner is showing at the moment late on fridays on C4.

The first episode featured an interview with none other than Garth Marenghi and a clip from his new film:

Sanch: Listen: my launch mechanism is jammed and I'm the only one left with a giant bomb full of insecticide, I'm going to zoom right up that alien wasp queens heinie and I know you won't want to do it but you don't hesitate, you don't think twice, you blast the fuel tanks on my crate and end this mutant wasp invasion once and for all. You understand me?

Garth : I didn't copy that Sanch...... We're short of time so I'll keep it brief. Just maneuver up the alien wasp queens arse and I'll bullseye the fuel tanks.
Goodbye.
:D
That's not verbatim. I'd been drinking. :)

Another vote for scrubs... just built a media PC so I am gauranteed two episodes a night. And loving it.

If you can get any of Robin Williams live standup stuff it is very very good.
