*Unreal Tournament III*Thread :o) Game Pics & Performance.

Well flippin' eck!

First the 'very high' on DX10 only rule is smashed, now AA on DX9 for UT3 :D

Not complaining at all! (as an XP user for the forseable future) just finding it hard to believe anything developers say these days :p

Preordered a while back - thought it was out today, because I didn't check after being told grr. Demo plays brilliantly, brings back memories of the first UT. And interetingly enough it'll run on a machine with the same mimimum spec, lol joke but I had it really low settings when I first ran due to the Crysis demo not working great and UT flies at up to high settings wow.

You think there will be plenty of propor instagib CTF servers and some with low grav? Thats what will make me buy it.

TBH at the moment I still prefer UT2004, I dont know about UT3, its like something is midding.

Glad I saw this thread, because it reminds me I need to change my pre-order, problem is I don't know where to.

The place in Basingstoke let me down for Crysis, delivering on Friday rather than Wednesday/Thursday and from what I hear, this will be the norm from now on.

But where now? Rainforest? Jersey?

getting something on release day is hardly a let down ;) From what ive heard jersey has meant to have been upto 3 days late for delivering preordered games

Yeah that would be fun to have a game, it's too bad i'd probably get my arse handed to me coz i'm dire, but death has never looked so pretty.

Will have to put a long skill to train on eve.

He can't of played the original. I love UT3 it really takes me back cannot wait till this Friday :D

I have played the original, did not like it and UT3 deffenitly does not feel like the original.

Your either very silly or never played the original :p This feels like the original to me but with the connent of 2004, i love it :D

How am I silly for thinking that? It feels like there is something missing to me. I'll buy the game if the MP has plenty of CTF Instagib servers.

What sort of pressure is this going to put on the average computer? Looks like a FPS killer!

It runs very well on not-so-high end rigs. Not sure of the FPS but on my laptop (2.0ghz Core 2 Duo, 2gb RAM, 8600GT (256mb DDR2)) the demo runs like a dream at 1280 x 800 (native res guys :p ) on the best settings the demo will give me in DX9 mode (I think), no AA.

So if I can pretty much max it out (IMO) then I'm sure older desktops wont really struggle at low settings.

Are you more of a quake person? or perhaps prefer a cs tactical shooter requiring some thinking.

I have to say i didn't really like any multiplayer online shooters till i met UT, i just found the movement, pace and weapons balancing were absolutely perfect. The gfx were amazing (at the time) and i was instantly hooked.

Quake 3 for me was ok, if u play some crazy excessive mods, but in stock form i found it was lacking a lot of balance, and had some weapons that had very limited uses. Even the bio gun in UT had it's uses. The machine gun in quake was a joke, and was a miracle u could actually kill anyone with it. The nade launcher in q3 was rather questionable as to why they put it in the game. Most people used the rocket launcher, plasma, shotgun and railgun. The BFG was waaaaay too overpowered.

In UT, you could pretty much pick up any gun and kill people with it, that was the beauty of perfect weapon balancing. Dual enforcers was actually one of my favourites, why they replaced it with a q3 type assault rifle in 2k3 was beyond me.

Anyway can't wait, hopefully you'll give ut3 more of a chance? or at least appreciate it for what it is; a benchmark for classic style deathmatch.
