I've rec'd Nokia N95 8Gb

Rather randomly just had a call from vodafone today offering an upgrade:

Current-
K750i Anytime 200, 50 texts - £30 (not great)

They offered
200 minutes (i dont really need more), 200/250 texts at £30 (with 6 months 1/2 price). They offered the SE K850i (i think), but when i mentioned swapping to tmobile when they got the N95 8 gb version, he said i could have that instead for free.

Is this a good deal? My only worry is that the data package isnt the best (120 mb) and the contract a month will be quite high at 37.50 with that.

Any suggestions?
Doesn't sound like a particularly good deal, you're basically only paying £7.50 a month less than the people who get unlimited texts and 750 anytime mins.

Having said that 6 months half-price is decent so all things considered it's probably a pretty decent deal.

Im going back to my old N95, and floggin my 8GB. I just dont use all the features it has to offer, and would prefer the cash leading up to xmas.

A brilliant phone though !

My biggest worry is that the 120mb will fly past. If tmobile price the phone well and can offer Flext 30 + web'n'walk for 32.50 it would give me a lot more flexibility (and 1 gb!) and i know i wont ever go over the limit.

How have people found the 120mb? Do you frequently find you have used the allowance and spent extra?

Is this phone any good? reason i ask is that our local vodafone shop is offering the N95 8GB on £35 a month contract free for this weekend only??

I have my E65 for work stuff and was thinking of one of the blackberry models to have a play etc..

Build quality - same buttons, granted better slider.
Appearance - its the same bar the 0.2' + screen and its now black
RAM - That just makes is quicker and smoother

True or False?

Slider is definitely better, but still not 100%. The materials used make the whole thing feel more solid (and the extra weight makes it feel less of a toy).

Appearance - Far far better appearance being in jet black. Silver is really tacky I feel.

RAM - Means multitasking it far better. It doesn't make it quicker or smoother though (and it hardly needs it, the original N95 was already dead fast).

Anyone know when this will be out on T-Mobile?

Also, how does email work on these, id like to get my ntlworld email account set up on it when I get it, do you have to dial in as such to retrieve mail?

Does anyone use th built in IM application? Trying to used msn on it but dunno the web address for the server, anyone know it?

How so?
Big improvements as in big, or just fixing what was broken?

The build makes such a big difference, it feels far more better quality overall, the flush screen cover, solid slider, far better navigation buttons and bigger screen/black makes it a better phone. On top of that, it does run quicker than the N95 - ie less pauses moving through apps, and the multitasking makes it so much a better phone. Lets not forget the battery, at least you can hit this phone very hard, and use it all day without running out of battery. The N95 now in my eyes was a prototype, and us N95 owners were beta testers - such a pity and this N95 8Gb is what the N95 should have been.

The software is better than the N95 too - the music app has less bugs and is improved, also demand paging and landscape to portrait is quicker. I believe these can and will be fixed on the N95 (firmware update apparently coming up this week).

The N95 8gb still has the odd bug and the GUI is looking rather tired/cluttered but its a great phone.

Good difference synopsis there Chrisp7.
I for one am very pleased with mine.
I watched Spiderman3 it for an hour and a half on the train on saturday afternoon when it was on 3 bars left to try and run it down by the time i went bed at night. Didnt even drop a bar!
It took a further 5 hours of BT on, Wifi scanning on, music on random, and using its speakers to run it down! lol.

On another note, ive noticed that when transfering music to it, it runs the battery down quicker than anything else on it. Not a crazy amount, but still noticable imo.

Does anyone know if its possible to 'move' the Spiderman file and the authorisation key to play it off the phone?
Im thinking for backup purposes, and for when the new firmware comes.

Thanks.

Only above board way is to use the nokia backup tool in the pc suite and back up the flash memory

Finally got my n95 8gb phone this morning after waiting almost a week for it, left the guy neg feedback as he didnt bother telling me it was going to take a week for delivery.

Anyways not happy, in fact quite angry as i was under the impression that the phone i would be getting would be a sim free version ie no network branding. Imagine my surprise this morning to find its a vodaphone branded n95 8gb model. Yes i know i could de-brand it but i cant be bothered tbqh...its a pain in the backside. So ive emailed the guy to tell him that hes obviously misled me saying that it was a sim free unbranded phone. Looking back on the listing, the cheeky ***** added new pics on the 19th nov to show that it was a vodaphone n95 8gb whereas when i bought it on the 12th nov there were no pics whatsoever. So im waiting for him to get back to me, hopefully he does..if not then ill be lodging a dispute for this. I dont appreciate being misled or lied to.

Whats my chances of being successful in this claim, its the first time ive had to do such a thing. Do Ebay side with the buyer or the seller??. If worse comes to worse then i suppose i could just put it on ebay and sell it for the same price i bought it for. But then id be liable for ebay charges which i think are extortionate along with paypal fees.
