Okay, first of all i've seen Super Size Me, I know eating McD's everyday, three times a day will more than likely ruin my health, but will eating a Big Mac meal once a day, maybe three to four times a week really screw me over?

I'm 23, 6ft and weigh 75kg, so i'm not looking to lose or gain weight, but given that the Big Mac meal has a load of protein and carbs, I find it a nice fast supplement meal despite the tonne of fat and salt included.

So yeah, Big Mac meal, three to four times a WEEK... will it be that detrimental to my health? If so, if not, what are your opinions on the matter, your habits with fast food, etc?

edit.... lol @ Stringy :D

JEEEESUS!
I know it's a typo :p

If you're doing lots of decent exercise, i.e. as many times as you're eating the meals, then I can't see it creating too much of a problem. However if you're a lazy layabout then I wouldn't recommend it!

I only used to have 1 Mac meal a week and since I stopped eating them about 6 months ago and started eating correctly I feel so much better. Can't you get a better meal somewhere else? Some fruit perhaps?

OP meant 3 to 4 times a week, I'm sure.

Will it screw you over? No, but it will make you consume saturated fats and artificial sugars that you probably don't need, and more than likely bump you well over the daily recommeded allowance for fat/sugar. Assuming you balance it by exercising, you are still at a disadvantage. Also, are you aware of what exactly goes into making these meals (link:http://www.diet-blog.com/archives/2005/12/01/fast_food_fake_nutritional_information.php)?

Once a week is better if you ask me.

Wasn't there a TV experiment to demonstrate the effects of eating MC D's everyday? Wasn't too good iirc?

Ye, Super size me, the OP said hes seen it but I guess isnt taking the information on board, of course mcD's is a bad for you, even once a week. Everything in moderation! :)

gah dont know how you could. i ate from there when i worked there (free meals) for about 3 months and i felt horriible. even if you do lots of exercise its not particularly advised to eat that stuff. as you saw on supersize me, most nutritionist's would recommend avoiding it completely or maybe having one a month if you want to push it.

surely there are better ways to get carb and proteins? and im pretty sure you want complex carbs not the crap in McD's?

The same nutritionists who tell you you can't have pork products, red meat more than twice a week, chocolate, alcohol and anything else (always the most enjoyable foods) that improves your mental health and does no harm when taken in sensible moderation.

no i believe those would be scientists doing ridiculous studys to get air time and their paper out, not people advising you what to eat. the ones ive met have always said alcohol and red meat and chocolate etc is fine in moderation.look at the french, glass of wine with meal = great highly recommended.
dont try and come out with somehow that macdonalds (the absolute junk they cram into their food is unbelievable) is good to eat reguarly. its not. as i said, maybe one a month or occasionally throughout the year, but not a regular pattern.

its not a totally alien concept not to stuff yourself with crap food and eat properly you know?

I'm not - it IS utter trash and I've not had a McDonalds or Burger King in about 3 years. However to suggest that the human body is only capable of dealing with a slight increase in saturated fats and salt once per month sounds like killjoy nutritionalist propaganda. I can't see once or twice a week being a problem if you're reasonably active. Four times a week sounds too much though.

Everything in moderation is good. I would say four main meals comprised of the same thing a week (whether it be McDonalds or a salad) could ideally be made to be more 'healthy' with a greater variety of foods.
