I've had this case for two years now and its a brilliant case but I have to say that the HDD racks don't do a very good job of insulating the vibrations from the case - you get the full grunt of any HDD activity ...

The area in question is highlighted below : -

Now my question is this ... Is there a way to insulate the HDDs so as they don't transmit as much of the vibration into the chasis ?

From looking at the space there isn't a lot of room to work with in regards to lining the runners or the screws to insulate them. Has anyone found a good way to dampen the HDD noise without the use of a caddy in the 5'25" bays ?

TIA peeps :)

Awesome idea - Does it require removal of the actual runners though as I'd rather not take a dremel to the case if I can help it :p ?

Yes, it does require the remove of the rails (as you should be able to see from photos) :)

They are pretty easy to take off... small flat screwdriver and wedge it in a gap and lever them off. Although that method breaks the clips that hold them on, I couldn't have cared less when I did it because the hard disk noise was so annoying!

Is it a plain V1100 rather than one of the plus versions? The plus ones have the vertical bits screwed in so you can remove them and easily get the runners out.

Makes a big difference doing this - did the same thing in my V2100+
